Other than Imagery and the generally medieval level of societal advancement, most of what Terisa found in Mordant pretty much aligned to things in our world. However, there was one crop/grain that was a complete unknown. What is it? Worren. Correct! (I was about to comment on something related, but...

OK, I was trying not to jump in, but I guess I'll have to say it was everybody's favorite chambermaid, Sadith. She was taking a break from trying to seduce Gereden, if I remember correctly (so, yes, he was pretty close by as well...)

The Lords do not "rule" in the sense of controlling the day-to-day lives of the people. Rather they serve as protectors, peacemakers, judges/arbiters, and as the voice of the (human) people to other societies. The one rule/law they seem even slightly inclined to "enforce" is the ...

Feel free to join us here StevieG OK everyone sitting?? I have never read the Gap books yet. Yes call your bosses to schedule emergency day off :D The Gap series is more like Covenant in that it is fairly dark and heavy - no romantic comedy here. It is also a true ensemble story, though there are a...

Ewe might love that I'm leaving the obscenity behind, as I think most of us are aware that this term probably doesn't belong in a family forum! ;) To be honest, I've always been reticent declaring this a family forum, considering it's founded on our appreciation of books about a leperous rapist... ...

StevieG wrote:Something about being locked in a crib?
Correct! "the Crib" was the primary twisting horror from his infancy, and avoiding it metaphorically was the driving force of his life. He recognized Norna's situation as being a (very high tech) version.

Ewe might love that I'm leaving the obscenity behind, as I think most of us are aware that this term probably doesn't belong in a family forum! ;) Now for the question... What parallel to his own life experience did Angus recognize in sympathizing with Norna. (Note: There's a very specific term I'm ...

StevieG wrote:Nick pronounced it Thermo-pile.

The correct pronunciation was Ther-mo-pyle, with a 'y' sound at the end, like Ther-mo-pilly - I think :D
That's close enough. I would have gone Ther-MOP-uh-lee, but you have the syllable accent and ending vowel correct, so I'm happy.

Milos was also already dead, having been killed by Sorus. Even if the Amnion were not aware of how he died, they surely knew that he had to have been killed when they turned their proton cannon on Soar . If I take your hint rightly, the answer is Nick...who was also killed by Sorus in one of the gr...

Cord Hurn wrote:Perhaps Warden is surprised that Marc doesn't demand to know why Morn was rescued from the Amnion sector of Billingate.
That's not it either. I'll give a clue that I hope isn't too dead simple - the Amnion demands Vestibule presented were a list of people, and someone was conspicuously absent.

Sorry, neither of those correctly answers the question. :) Naturally, there are any number of things that weren't demanded, but there was one that it was called out that Warden was surprised by. Note - there was a very good reason it wasn't demanded, by the way, but Warden couldn't know that at the ...
