The ending was terrible. Armageddon central in Kiril Threndor, a whacking great slow worm tearing up Melenkurion Skyweir, and then "ah, isn't this nice, walking around in Andelain"!! I wanted blow by blow details of how the whole thing got resolved, not just, ah yeah we simply remade every...

I'm guessing Hamoko you won't be up for the chapter dissections? :) well it would be pretty repetitive, it would go something like this: Linden can't make her mind up what to do. She moans and despairs a bit. TC staggers round all weak and is generally not very good at anything. A few things appear...

Hello! It's been years since I last visited. So, my thoughts on the last chronicles - by and large, a set too far. Overall, just not very good at all. Far too much about Linden, and Runes was really pretty dire - almost a whole book full of here introspection and procrastination. I thought the Last ...

well, I;ve just finished it this minute. So here's my fresh opinion..... In thought the first few chapters were grim. Dark, turgid and overly depressing. yep, we get it TC is bust, Linden is just morose. I'm sick of Linden as a character. I read these books for TC, he's a true dude.47 What I couldnt...

I think Foul will be absorbed by TC into some form of alloy and he will meld back into the arch having been pulled away from it by Linden.

I also think the Land will be destroyed. The arch is hugely vulnerable now that TC is back in corporeal form and lordy knows what Law has broken in doing so. Sometimes the only way to remove a flaw in a creation is to destroy it entirely and start again. I think we'll see a new creation at the end m...

I'm re reading Runes atm and I think Jeremiah is going to have a very big role in the next 2 books. I think he is the designer and builder of Foul's Creche. He built a 2 towered castle in Linden's house: I reckon it's fouls creche. I also reckon his mind's been in the land for over 10 years. He coul...

first impressions? fantastic book. as for there being no big baddy: all through the book I thought there was a huge menace hangin over everything - Linden. She's the big bad guy type figure. Looks to me as if she is on a roller coaster to being the next Kevin but with bells on. Wouldn't be surprised...

I don't think you can comment on a book til you've read the whole thing really. Well, considering the fact that most novels get rejected merely on a query letter or synopsis, I see no problem judging a book on a small portion. From my research into the publishing business, I've learned that most ag...

Off-topic: I took a look at the Eldarn books solely due to their mention two post earlier in this thread. The back cover mentions SRD twice - good! - and Goodkind once - a very bad sign... The beginning of the first book was available online, and I read it... It was rather... bad, to put it mildly....

IN the UK, a paedo gets say upto 10 years at first offence, if it reoffends it get life. My father in law was prison governor and dealt with a lot of perverts in his time. He's told me about these filth. They should get life at first offence. the problem is that they don't see that they have a probl...

Rus, interesting response on the history of the scriptures, but I don't agree with you on the Orthodox Church, I simply see this church as yet another one to wondere about and possibly be alarmed at along with the rest. For the record I am English and was raised a Catholic, went through the Charisma...

rus - thanks for the offer of prayers, but I can;t see how, if there's a merciful god at the end of it all, the dead would need our prayers. I rather think it'd be the other way round! I appreciate what you're getting at with childlike understanding of religion etc, but my difficulties go a little f...

my opinions on faith and belief have mellowed abit in the last year or two, not least affected by the death of my mum. I have an ambiguous relationship with religous concepts. I simply don't know what there is beyond the mortal coil, none of us do and to dismiss or fundamentally believe a creed is a...

answering the thread, yes I was disappointed. ITs the only one in the series which I didn't want to read again as soon as I'd finished it. It's now been 2 years since I read it and I might, just might give it another go. I thought it lacked a lot of editorial control. There's only so much I want to ...

I hadn't realised that the harback & paperback version of Runes were different - how so?

I thought Runes was quite flabby - a lot could have been cut out - this what you're talking about?

I understand you're point CovJr, but disagree. I found the "normality" of expletives in Runes refreshing. Language in the first 6 sometimes struck me as a little arcane. I think this new series will be more contemporary in its use of language. Depends what you like. I found the LOTR books ...

Khaliban, I agree entirely with your main point - couldn't have made the point better myself. Aafter all, how much can you write about Linden sitting around in a Ramen camp? I thought the first few chapters were superb - refreshingly gritty and contemporary, and grippinlgly paced. All sort of halted...

Swearing - I didn't realise that it was such a point of debate. It didn't even register in Runes, with me. People swear, and the big deal is?? Jeez, the day you start to get really upset about strong language is the day you perhaps lose touch with reality. Sometimes I lose patience with people who t...
