Did you try changing your security settings first? Or adding kevinswatch.ihugny.com to your "allow cookies" etc lists? --A My security was set at medium -- or maybe medium rare? :) I add the site to something or another. Anyway, I finally gave up and downloaded the latest version of Firef...

Maybe try updating your IE...(oh...that might be the latest version...or almost so.) Or switching to FireFox (definitely worth it, much better browser) if altering your security settings doesn't work. --A I have a copy of FireFox around here somewhere. (*Looks under sofa*) I tried it earlier, but i...

I'm using IE version 7.0.5370.11 (I hate IE version numbers. :P )

Umm, yeh. Or, Ramen-- quick, filling and spicy, yet with almost no redeeming nutritional value. :) Good, I'm not the only one who keeps thinking of noodles whenever the Ramen show up. They probably wonder why Thomas Covenenat keeps trying to throw them in boiling water. But at least SRD didn'...

Are there better, bigger maps of the Land available, either on-line or for sale (like those maps of Middle Earth you can buy in bookstores)? While reading The Illearth War, a couple of times, I had problems figuring out which direction they were supposed to go because of the size of the map. This co...

That didn't make any sense to me, either. But then again, why is Thomas Covenant listed as an author? I mean, I know he's an author in the books, but no one carries his books. :D

Stephen R. Donaldson Literature Map

Has anyone scene this site? www.literature-map.com/stephen+donaldson.html It's a "Literature Map" for Stephen R. Donaldson -- it tries to answer the question "What else do readers of Stephen Donaldson read?" Try it out. It's cool. And it's a big, diverse list of authors, ranging ...

Cutting up responses so I don't end up with an epistle. ;) Yeah, pretty much what Orlion said. I wanted to kick his ass off a balcony when he was pissing and moaning in his chambers in TIW (actually, I wanted Bannor to kick him off a balcony). In dealing with TC I initially thought the the Lords had...

First Chronicles - grudging respect mixed with a bit of loathing Second Chronicles - very much grew to like him, but he was well beyond his Unbelief then and fought as hard as could be expected, and sacrificed more than could be expected. Well at least he progresses. ;) Me too.. when i first read t...

I'd give him the series, personally. I've found that people are more likely to (eventually) read something if they are given the book than if they are merely borrowing. Good point. Luckily the used bookstore near work had a complete set with actual matching covers. :) I ended up with the British se...

Absolutely..if he doesnt like them then it will only take the first book. I know it took me a few tries to get started. I started it eo...

Why didn't I think of that?! That whole chapter was a chapter to chill the heart. Sigh.

I Actually *Like* TC

Yeah, I actually *like* the so-and-so. Does that make me weird? I know a lot of readers loathe Thomas Covenant, even if they love the Land and the other characters -- they like the book despite the main character. (That might be the point of an anti-hero. To them, the other characters are the real h...

Should I give the First Chronicles to My Nephew?

(Before you ask, he's 27, so he's old enough. :)) On the one hand, he loves fantasy, and he loves it when I buy him fantasy novels. On the other hand, he prefers series like the Drizz't books (his favorites), Robert Jordan, etc. So will he just wind up hating on the Thomas Covenant books? 8O I just ...

Definelty recommend you dont skip ahead. You truly dont understand whats at stake unless you have read the previous books. Um.....sure! Read Runes before finishing the IW.......yeah..... makes sense to me. And if you're pressed for time just read the last chapter. :screwy: I could always read the "What Has Gone Before" sections from books 1-5 and then read the end of book six. I'd highly recommend...
