Yes to the story, but not to TC's unbelief. But no rape, no guilt. One of the major motivations that helped him find the center of the paradox. Also, would Atarian have guided him all the way to Revelstone? Perhaps hitching a ride with Foamfollower or not... Would Covenant form the same kind of bon...

Even with the soothtell, too much important stuff happens in the 1st chrons. TWL would make almost no sense at all without the 1st chrons. Well, it would make sense if it were treated correctly. My greatest fear is that the 1st chronicles would be totally denatured when filmed. The TC portrayed on ...

The First Movie
Given the success of the LOTR films, movie goers would have a set of expectations for other epic fantasy movies. If the first chronicles are filmed, will people who have never read Covenant, sit though movies of a leper doing essentially nothing and let all the other characters carry the burden? I d...

IVB, Yes I was taking that From SRD quote on the GI. Calling it a Bend came from?? I'm not sure, but that's what it amounts to. Anele was taken from the past by a Fall. The past was changed. Linden took the Staff the past was changed. The Demondin were moved (twice) the past was changed. The ur-vil...

Does anyone here think Linden didn't have to go back in time; that she was manipulated into doing so in order to help break the Law of Time? Could be, but she did not break the Law of Time, so the past was not changed. so her trip happened before she left. Multii-versre interpretations aside that i...

I didn't make the rules SRD did and he says Bends are allowed. Just where does Donaldson say bends are allowed? Do you refer to the gradual interview: Why hasn't everyone who has ever lived in the Land been trapped the way Anele was? The convenient answer is that Falls are (still) comparatively few...

But we have no corruption of earthpower and no sunbane. So whats to say that the Staff wasn't present somewhere in the world? Nothing says that Kevins dirt is to blame by a missing SOL. It also dosen't prevent Caesures since Linden created one about ten feet from it. I'm not saying I know what Esme...

Good review. I too found Runes interesting, but lacking in many ways. My greatest disappointment was the lack of newness, we have yet to see an imaginative direction Donaldson is taking us, so far we just have rehashed characters types with few if any changes and as you said: “a vague threat.” It is...

My point is that Esmer didn't take the staff to the future. At point F in Esmer's 'real' time he took the Staff and hid it outside the Land. There it sits doing nothing for 3000 or so years. Along comes Linden and puts 2 and 2 together with Esmers help and dares the Past (point E) to go get it. Esm...

Not so. Esmer took it at point F, but Linden retrieved it at point E. We are not told any 'rules' about time travel. In fact History is changed because Linden goes back to get it. Either way it was changed, only now (Esmer theory) the change is small. SRD says that the LOT can bend, and repairs its...

In re-reading my own post I realised that Esmer wouldn't have had to travel to the past. He was alive at that point. If he could 'read' future events he could have taken the staff somewhere else (future?). He could have waited until the last Waynhim was dead and then taken it. This way he stopped i...

In TPTP TC destroyed the original staff and then 3500 years later, Linden made the new one. So yes the Arch can stand a 'missing' staff. Lets put it this way, Esmer went back and got the staff from the last of the dying Waynhim at point F in the timeline and brought it forward to the present. Linde...

By the way, have a look at this, which examines time travel by virtue of a Mobius Time Loop: www.cix.co.uk/~antcom/mtl.html I especially liked the comment (from the website): That is an interesting read, but I think the author neglected to mention some of the implications of a mobius time loop. Not...

I always imagined the AoT though as, well, an arch shape, something like a big golden rainbow, but then (before I saw the illustrations in Gilden Fire) I used to imagine the Bloodguard as being like the Security Officers (the guys in red jumpers) in early Star Trek episodes... I suspect it's the dr...

In regards to the Ranyhyn, their loss of freedom is the result of their choice to submit themselves to a rider and to always answer his call. This would be just as true if no foresight or magical talent was involved at all, and the rider had to send a message the mundane way summoning his Ranyhyn a...
