Its been a strange day already....not bad, not good just strange. On a happy note I did finish my taxes this morning and e-filed them. I put off doing them because I thought I'd owe but it turns out that the last minute donation of my living and dining room furniture saved my rear and even got me a ...

I cried in public today...in front of lots of people. I generally don't cry and I feel a bit embarassed over the whole thing. I hope everyone forgets about the whole thing except for the person who was a jerk to me....of course they were gone when the tears started flowing so I guess it was a non ev...

I recently started a purge of my house and found that I have most of all the things that most of my ex-bfs ever gave me, including the sappy "Ilove you" cards that I got when they still did. I find the purge of these items kind of sad yet releasing at the same time.

I love that every day is different. I get bored easily so working on everything from low expansion composites to Etch A Sketch glass during a single day keeps my interest level up. I once worked in a lab where I did the same thing everyday - I would have had to end it all if I didn't get away from t...

I'm back early from my trip to NOLA. The day after I got in town I started with symptoms of whats turning out to be the mother of all head colds. After my short course was over I flew out figuring it was better to be sick in bed at home where I could pamper myself. Overall it was a decent trip...I d...

i doubt he changed one thing with those kids. but as a white defendant in his court i would be worried about his exclusionary tactics. i would be watching his sentencing very carefully. Again in the article it does not mention that he asked ANY of the defendants to leave, just the lawyers. is he al...

Not to be nitpicky here but according to the article non of the defendants were asked to leave the court room, just some of the lawyers (MOST but not ALL of whom were white). Granted I am relying on the quoted article for my facts but at this time that is all I am going after. Personally I would hav...

I hate to be the one to ask, but I will anyway. Does it ever say if these guys are either citizens or here legally? I would think that may make a difference. i will assume that because it isn't mentioned that they are citizens. i do wish more people were upset that a gun was used to commit the crim...

On second thought: What if it had been two engslish speaking higshcool drop-outs that had been sentenced to get their high-school diploma instead of going to jail? Would you be cool with that? I guess that you could REALLY save some jail-space. This judge has offered similar sentences in the past t...

Wow. My hat's off to the guy if that's what he was doing. I think he's going to fry for it, but I think it was a great idea. I definately agree with the above statement. You can see why he did it and you can see how it might be effective but to do it from the bench is gonna get him in a mess of tro...

Apparently it's not a "slam-dunk" that's the sentence is illegal, so on that point we'll have to wait and see. Also I'm not to sure that the defendants want to go to jail for 2 years just so a Hispanic Activist and the ALCU can score points. Cail, in what way is learning English racist, c...

I guess the thing that disturbs me most is that the sentence, if followed through would likely open opportunities for these young men in the non criminal world...yet the sentence might be overturned due to legality. This is the kind of thing that made me avoid law as a career....it makes my brain wa...

Can the ACLU have it overturned even if the defendants don't want it to be?

Hmm. Is that because the remaining episodes are the ones completed after the strike? They needed some extra time? The first episode after the hiatus was made before the strike but TPTB thought that "Meet Kevin Johnson" was a better stopping point than the next episode. The remainder of th...
