I found that quite amusing!
Oh, I did, too - much as I hated laughing at something RC did, I LOVED that scene.

While I can't dispute the majesty of LMV, two chapters that stand out for me are "Doom's Retreat," from TIW, and "The Unbeliever," from TPTP. "Doom's Retreat" not only for the massive action, but for Verement's last stand against LF's entire army. And because the Bloodg...

While I'm not a huge fan of the ungainly name, I didn't find SWMNBN "wrong" or a bad addition; indeed, we've been reading about virulent banes buried deep in the Earth since the first Chronicles, and AATE is explicit in that She isn't something that comes into play because She choose "...

Liand

It's funny, because I just reread a Q&A in the GI where SRD talks about body count.... ....and I just read where Kastnessen, through Anele, took Liand's head apart. NEVER saw that coming. Holy crap, he's really not pulling any punches. I wasn't a huge fan of Liand - his worship of Linden was fai...

Not quite halfway through AATE; right now I'd rate it behind FR, but ahead of ROTE. All the ROTE hate is sorta surprising. When I first read it, I thought it was really slow, and "drier" than other TC novels. However, with 6 years and 2-3 rereads under my belt, I like it MUCH better now. I...

Surprised no one's remarked on Quillon; "quillons" are the protective bar or part of a sword - the quillons are what keeps the enemy's blade from hitting your own hand. And Quillon certainly acts thusly; he is the protection of the king's plans from Joyse's enemies (until he's killed, at l...

I'll have to reread the chapter, but I think Infelice is the best candidate for commanding the Dead to silence. From the information we have, no one else has less contradictory motives.

I don't have the books here, but I am quite certain that when TC repeats Foul's message, the text conveys that once he starts, the words just come out; Foul somehow imprinted the message on him, so that the exact words would be used. So it wasn't a case of TC having perfect recall; it was some dark ...

It was very late in part one, but the clincher for me was the whole "F**k the Elohim, f**k..." that Roger in TC guise said. So totally unlike TC I knew it wasn't him.

Never predicted it was Roger, though - and the croyel was a surprise to me, too.

Something I've yet to see discussed - and I wonder if it'll come up in AATE: Covenant's specific statement at the end of WGW that he didn't want to be resurrected. I understand that was in reference to the Cavewights trying to bring back Drool and that Covenant didn't want to be brought back as some...

Agreed. The skurj are more nightmarish and very monstrous; the Sandgorgons are albino whirlwinds of power and mystery. Sandgorgons rock!

Sorry, that's only partly correct. The Elohim sang the trees into knowledge of themselves and of their collective power; the trees then used that power to bind the Elohim into the Colossus. I stand corrected. dlb is correct, of course; it's also much more Donaldsonian to have the Elohim awaken the ...

I believe an Elohim merged with the One Forest, creating a consciousness there that created the Colossus and the Forestals. This is correct. The Appointed Elohim was absorbed/dismantled/etc. by the One Forest, and the trees used the knowledge of Earthpower and power in general to create the Foresta...

And far, far cooler. Have always loved the Forestals, and love CW's cameo in TIW. And despite the many inaccuracies, I love Sweet's cover of that book.

Yeah, I'll buy that MrKABC. Besides, from what some other folks have been posting, SRD has much more serious discrepancies to resolve than this.

WOW.. I finished the book yesterday and I dont remember being bogged down at any time. Matter of fact I considered this book very fast paced. Some interesting comparisons to make are the earlier Chronicles to the Last, and other modern fantasy epics compared to any of the Chronicles. My last reread...
