Yes, it’s Star Wars Day, but the Kent State Massacre needs to be remembered as well…

How Do You Feel Today? v4

hmm….
I can probably find enough lemmings or tribbles for that for next month, but I’ll have to search pretty diligently for enough rabbits.

Watch Update

I was unable to save the avatars from the old board; for some reason they wouldn’t download. I tried to screenshot them and crop them in my editor, but they remained way too large.

DPJ, oh dear…
Definitely not the avatar you wanted.

What's for Lunch/Brunch?

Friday is boneless wing day. I go to a local place and have them either with mango habanero or teriyaki sauce. I eat boneless rather than real wings mainly because its easier to keep the sauce out of my beard. I don’t know if meat alternatives would interest you, but I tried a free sample...

That is a great idea!!! I had not thought to do that. Composting the bone leavings. Let me know how that turns out. You don’t want to compost the bones; they can attract rodents and/or dogs. Instead, process them into bone meal and allow to sit for awhile for any smells to hopefully dissipate. It’s...

What's for dinner?

As far as I know, there are only two types of sashimi, whether served as sashimi, nigiri, or in rolls which I don’t like: eel and mackerel. I know I haven’t tried everything yet, especially the poisonous ones if not prepared properly ones such as puffer fish, but I’m game to give them a try.

Future food. Crockpot will be rolling for about 24 hours making bone broth. Sure smells nice in here!! I bet! I use the Instant Pot for bone broth. Takes about 12 hours for two 5-quart batches in my 10-quart IP, using the same bones so they totally crumble at the end. An overnight chill, and then s...

why were they skinned? After the myriad iterations I have done what is domestically called "charby chick", I have found that getting crisp skin on a smoked-and-saucy thigh is not consistently achievable. Saturday's grilling of skinned, but still bone-in, pieces turned out better, nu? For ...

What's for dinner?

Fired up the grill last night for chicken thighs kissed with applewood smoke and sauced sweet-and-spicy. Served with steamed broccoli for all, plus an ear of corn for Dam-sel. It was yummy! Although I believe you skinned the thighs? I see them being rendered down for schmaltz, which we are low on, ...

Made homemade bone meal from the spent bones after making poultry bone broth in the Instant Pot. I’m going to let it sit for about a month see if the meat smell diminishes before I use it when I transplant my tomatoes. First time trying it; we’ll see if it attracts critters to the garden bed.

Frost-hardy stuff. :D A lot of star jasmine (mostly in pots), ground and wall covers, (Uh, irish moss, creeping foxglove, some type of ivy), a bed of MR Lavender alternated with rosemary, sage, origanum, and thyme (and lemon thyme), clivia and agapanthus, and some other stuff. I dunno, I'm not a ga...

Passover Success!!

I had to get a new-to-me phone, so I was unable to post photos during Passover and Easter. First night Seder I went to CHABAD, but I prepared second night. I made both Ashkenazi and Sefardi charoses. The Askenazi consisted of apples, chopped walnuts, ground Ceylon cinnamon, and Manischewitz. The Sef...
