I heard so many lively and interesting discussions of Donaldson's work at the E'fest, I definitely feel like the energy is still there. This forum has induced people to travel around the world to meet in person - that's quite a catalyst, and it seems to speak of an energy that can be maintained. I'v...

I picked puissance, but I wished I could have picked them all. :D Roynish is the word that sent me to buy an unabridged dictionary, back in the day. Now you can just Google any unfamiliar word. Perhaps the world is less than it was.... ;) Oh, yes, roynish. That is one that slipped my mind from earl...

I'm also feeling much of what Avatar and Caggy reported. I had a very hard time picking up the thread of this last series, and feel four books might be a little too much. That said, I think I feel this way about any final thing, so it's not SRD's fault in particular. Any time I know I'm watching the...

Favorite SRD vocabulary word?
I love that SRD sends me running to the dictionary (or dictionary.com) so often. Of course, once he teaches you a word, he cements your new knowledge with repetition. Which of these words (or ones I've forgotten to mention) is your favorite? I could only put in a few poll options, so the real fun wi...

Do you remember the first time?
I suddenly got curious about how people first discovered SRD and where they bought their first book. I remember mine, because it was so surprising. When I was a teen, my dad, a teacher, would take us on extended visits to his parents' farm in northeast Arkansas during the summer months. It was a con...

For the schedule
Cag and I (and possibly Nathan, if he can make it) will be staying at:
Fairfield Inn & Suites Albuquerque Airport
and we're booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so we'll leave on Monday at some point, and hopefully have plenty of time to do things with all you lovely people.

Rest assured that there is always lots of cooperation in providing rides for those who don't have cars. Last time, I had a big Jeep and typically had people from at least three hotels onboard wherever I went. I have a five seat sedan reserved this time (hoping for an upgrade...) and will have Menol...

Take a hike?
Last time, Cag and I didn't stick around long enough to go on the hike to "Andelain". I wanted to know if anyone was planning to do that again? My employer is going to lend me a rugged camera to bring along, and I wanted to test it out. And do fun stuff with the crew, of course.

The Grim. Yes, of course, another example. You say, when physical contact is harmful. Is it that, really? They have harmed themselves many times in service to those they protect. Or does their sufficiency demand that they do what is necessary? A Haruchai that doesn't kill himself destroying the fir...

I will mention here like I've mentioned on other threads about this. A house rental sounds cool but it would most likely mean three to four to a bedroom and I think we need more privacy than that depends on who the other two bunking with me and julie. :) I think I should be in the Sarge/Julie sandw...

I just read that original post again. While I just watched the series Game of Thrones, I haven't read the books. That ancedote, however, made more more interested in reading GRRM's earlier works (perhaps waiting to read his SoIaF until the next HBO series has aired). I have the opposite problem. I ...
