Oh, I think we'll definitely see the Giants again, hopefully in FR. A Giant vs Haruchai? An interesting match, to be sure. It only took three Bloodguard to kill a Giant-Raver, remember -- which means that it's not unreasonable to assume that a single Haruchai could beat a single, non-Raving Giant.

Many, many other threads on this topic, UVM. Not to squash this one, but you may enjoy participating in those others. Yeah, but it's fun to throw it all out there when you become a new member rather than divide your thoughts up on numerous threads. It's like an opening statement. Wayfriend is right...

Runes Of The Earth -- my thoughts

Just finished it 5 minutes ago. I was so blown away by the news of the new series that after I bought Runes I re-read the previous 6 books so I'd be mentally ready to handle it. This took about 3 months (only had time to read for about 30 mins a day) but I finally got through them, then took another...

Re: Donaldson's unique vocabulary

I'm a fan of Nom, but I'd have to say Vader would have the upper hand. He could toss Nom around with the power of the Force, just as Gibbon-Raver was able to toss Nom around because he had the full power of the Banefire behind him. Of course, if Nom can surprise Vader with a maneuver the way he surp...

Donaldson's unique vocabulary

Got Runes, and have spent the last 4 months preparing to read it by reading the previous 6 books. It's the 5th time I've been through them all in my life and each time I get so much new stuff from the experience. One thing that strikes me though -- SRD uses a certain set of words that are so 'operat...

>At the Manchester Q&A SRD said that the people of the Land don't have technology as we know it because they have magic and therefore don't need it. They don't need technology, eh? If you'd asked Mhoram if he needed any technology-based assistance at the start of PtP -- when the Raver's army is ...

Hile Troy: what he could have imported from our world...

Hi all. It always occurs to me that once Troy was in command of the Warward and introducing homeworld innovations such as instant communication (ie the lomillialor rods), he would then have tried to introduce others too -- specifically weaponry. As a military strategist, he would have been supremely...

It might resemble the blastwave unleashed when the One Ring is destroyed in LOTR: TROTK: a deep bass note and creatures destroyed instantly on impact.
