I love the man's Covenant series, but this one was awful. It was a real chore to force myself to finish it. =(

The Elric books are seriously dark and depressing. However, they're extremely short so they're easy to digest in small servings. Sometimes they're so fantastical I think Moorcock must have been writing them whilst enjoying a nice mushroom dinner. Edit: D'oh I didn't address the original thread quest...

My bet is that they are for Foul. Okay so you can't kill him, you don't want him loose on the universe, so (like the immortal guy in Heroes) you put him somewhere that all he can do is rage and scream but not affect anyone ever again.

Hile Troy

He's like the supremacist in the Dave Chappelle skit! Seriously, I always pictured Hile Troy as middle-aged, mostly bald with fringes of black hair in a horseshoe around his head. I'm not sure why, but maybe I was picturing his seeing through the top of his head and hair would be in the way. But tha...

In regard to the Guardian of the One Tree and his nature (combination of Elohim+Insequent+Haruchai), I have a feeling that we may see him end up as a super-being that's involved in the final imprisonment or release of Foul. That is, after he is defeated by Linden and/or TC (which results in a being ...

I looked around in various forums and couldn't find any discussion of this, but here is a link to Amazon.com's pic of Fatal Revenant: www.amazon.com/Fatal-Revenant-Stephen-R-Donaldson/dp/0399154469/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-0946046-7148040?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185208162&sr=8-1 (Sorry not famil...

I'd like to add for all of the people that said they hated it because the main character was an anti-hero, see "The Sopranos."

It's mainly just hinted at in the first chronicles, as in Balon's TIW quote above, as well as the many times that SRD writes that speaking aloud seems to be 'awkward' for the Haruchai (excluding GF).

There's a scene where Vain is standing there and 'every creature that touched him died' (just writing from memory). I've always wondered if they were touching him and he would turn around and crush them, or if they were actually dying JUST from touching him (as if he had a death touch of some kind).

First Chronicles for sure... I happen to be in the middle of my favorite of all six books (TIW), and though I am a fast reader, I am purposely reading as slowly as I can to savor every well-written sentence and appreciate it anew.
