No, Mansun have a fair few fans in the UK although they haven't put anything out in a couple of years. I first saw them supporting Blur in 1995 and have been a fan ever since. I really like the way they can have so much going on in a song, musically, without sounding over-produced. As for Beth Orton...

Manic Street Preachers made the Theme from M*A*S*H* into a pretty good song, and Muse's cover of Nina Simone's Feeling Good rocks.

Also heard JJ72's cover of Chris Issak's Wicked Game, which is quite nice, and then there's Travis' legendary cover of Baby, one more time...

I have a fairly strong dislike for the ganster rap side of hip hop. I don't dislike it musically, but I hate the way so many acts glamorise crime, and in particular gun crime. The focus on material possessions as status symbols strikes me as unhealthy too (I believe they call it "bling-bling&qu...

Duran Duran. Absolutely nothing like anything else in my record collection, yet I can't help but love 'em. I think it's probably to do with hearing them a lot when I was a child.

Hmm, no option for bass guitar, so I'll just have to choose guitar. I also played clarinet as a kid. I'd not long started playing bass when some friends, who are much more talented than I, muscially speaking, sacked their bass player and asked me to be the replacement. After about a year of intensiv...

I've been trying to get down to writing for a good few months now, but my idea has turned into a bit of a monster. The story will be set in the near future and what starts as a medium sized accident leads on to disrupt the balance of power of the entire planet. The problem I'm having is that I have ...

uuughh! How exactly do you obtain a sperm sample from a dead guy?
It wouldn't be difficult for Linden, as a physician, provided she took it pretty much straight after the Second Chronicles finished. Covenant hadn't been dead very long, the sperm would stay alive for a fair few hours.

SRD mentioned that he still had to go through the process of publisher hunting, and seeing as he'll (probably) have to do that only once for the entire Last Chronicles we can assume that the subsequent four volumes won't take quite as long. However, I seem to recall Mouseglove mentioning that Donald...

I thought maybe Foul was using the Banefire directly to influence Joan, perhaps being the cause of her blood-thirst. What we'd previously been told about the Arch of Time would seem to rule out Foul taking possession of Joan himself, and it seems unlikely that any of the Ravers could cross the Arch ...

It's a nice idea, but I rather suspect that whatever event took TC back to the Land would separate him from his newly acquired toys. That said, I'm surprised he didn't try it, it's not as though he didn't have the money.

We've discussed TCTC as talking book before, and we all got quite excited about which actors could voice who, amongst other things. My main concern about making the Cronichles into an audio book would be the extent to which they were abridged to make them a listenable length. LOTR has been made into...

I think it'd be more accurate to say that the characters mentioned by SRD all sought immortality rather than all wanted to live forever. I'm not familiar with Eremis (I assume he's from Mordant's Need which I own, but have not yet gotten around to reading), but out of that list only Kasreyn and Holt...

There's a short, simple explanation of how I got the nickname, but it's not nearly funny or interesting enough to bother posting here. I'm 22 and was born in Cape Town before e...

Ah, just noticed a flaw in the logic of Covenant and Linden having a child. I remembered that you leave the land in the exact physical condition you were in when you came into it. Surely Linden could not become pregnant whilst she was in the Land, indicating that she may have acquired a gentlemen-fr...

I remember thinking at the time how strange Linden's boss (can't remember his name) would find the way she is now likely to grieve for Covenant. As far as he knew, she only knew him for a couple of days. As her son features in the Last Chronicles, it seems likely that TC got her pregnant too (sly ol...
