Well I got about 150 pp into it and it's in my bookcase now. I guess I'll try to plod through it later. I never thought one of SRD's Covenant books would bore me. But like I said, I need to read further. I've read enough praise to know there's something in there somewhere worthwhile. But 100 pages a...

Yep, you're correct. It takes way over 100 pages for anyone to move from that same spot in Andelain. I made it a little further then gave up. Because they went to another place and stayed there for an interminable amount of time, too. (Still there when I put it down.) I'm recommending only the First...

When it takes 150 pages for a group of folks to move from one spot in Andelain, I get bored. That's just me, folks. I put it down. Maybe later, when I find something even MORE boring, I'll pick it up. I know! I'll go turn on Dancing with the Stars! That oughta do it!

Totally agreed. I can guess some of the more arcane and obscure words' meanings (like the ones I just used, heh heh....) by the context. Others, I have no idea. I don't OWN a dictionary or thesaurus. And I am not going to stop every third sentence, grab my note pad and pen, and write down the words ...

Guess my review was one you saw on Amazon. I got halfway through it, with much determination to do so, and now it's gathering dust. I will finish it someday I guess, but it's not holding me captive like the first six books did. Incredibly disappointed. Different strokes, so don't get call out the po...

Whew! Thanks, Orlion. I thought for sure the proverbial ruler had smacked my hand for that one. I'm over a hundred pages into it now. Going to take it slower this time. I read the last one in two days and then had to wait the whole three years for the next one. LOL :?

Are you really a moderator, Orlion? I know Jay, Danlo, and Vain are, but searching the members list does not turn up a list of mods. Sorry, I really didn't think that was a spoiler. I guess you're gonna boot my post off the board then, huh? Sorry. I know we had a discussion some time back asking who...

Hey all got the book yesterday the 19th. I had it pre-ordered on Amazon. Already about 60 pages into it. No spoilers here, but I will say I missed my vocabulary lesson the past three years. Many new words in this one. That's all I can say. Gonna take my time, since three years until last one. Enjoy

Well, just my opinion here, as little as it matters. SRD doesn't waste time putting stuff in his books that doesn't directly mean something to the story; if he was THAT detailed, he'd be writing libraries full to get it done and we'd all be bored and no one would want to read them. Apart from Lena's...

Put my pre-order in at Amazon US weeks ago. Having surgery on the 12th so this book will come just in time for me to fill my days with reading. Great timing! I REALLY hope we aren't left again with a last-sentence cliffhanger for three years...........

I'm still reeling from the ridiculous title change. Don't know who the cover guy is, but he's pretty hot and intense looking. I thought Covenant, too, but way too young and too many digits. This may not be the final, we do have six more months to go. Did I read correctly, Palencar is the artist? I a...

Um, I may get laughed out of this thread and maybe even this entire forum, but just because it says a white star, does that HAVE to mean the star was made of fur or hair? Maybe it was made of light, maybe it was a star like what's in the sky. The brightness of the gem of the Krill was from light, Ea...

Strange that there are no good-smelling, sexy men in these books. They are fantasy novels, after all, so he could have made something up. Oh, no she didn't!!!!!!!!!!

Krazy Kat may have hit the nail on the head. Although I thought Foamfollower had not been to Andelain before. I must be mistaken about that one. Oh, well, whatever, I'm just nitpicking details anyway.

As long as we're talking about ANY of the books, then moving onto the Second Chronicles, I must say that Pitchwife takes the cake. The ravaging of the mast by Findail remark, the one about any baby of the First's being born ready for battle, and others. Then there were some attempts at humor that fe...

Nope, nothing has come close. Very few books that I have owned, I have read more than once. A couple of Anne Rice books (Blackwood Farm for one, Blood and Gold for another), and a trilogy by Jeanne Kalogridis about the pre-Dracula days and how those later days come to pass. A little cheesy, but stil...
