Most recent update from the world of GRRM is that the short story collection due this year "Dangerous Women" has been delivered to the publishers. The GRRM contribution, alas, which was supposed to have been the next/fourth Dunk and Egg story about the She-wolves of Winterfell, has been de...

Re : another clue concerning Jon

One other thing that is another pointer to the R + L =J theory is one of the visions that Dany has in the Houses of the UNdying in Quarth. She sees a blue flower blooming in a wall of ice.

Blue flowers are mentioned in conjunction with Ned's memories of his sister. Jon is at The Wall.

I don't see any posts mentioning this, but there are is some information floating around from the next volume in the series. GRRM has already released a spoiler chapter on his blog site, featuring Theon and he has done a couple of readings as well at conventions from chapters from the PoVs of Ariann...

She who must not be named - clue

read these spoilers (couln't help myself as I wait eagerly for AATE). Browsing around Wikipedia today I came across this little snipppet, which I do not remember from the Second Chronicles - There is also a third story told by the Clave, according to which the World was created as a prison for a-Jer...

Would it be fair to question the synopsis accuracy? I hesitate to make any assumptions based on a publisher's synopsis. I take it with a healthy pinch of salt, but it certainly sounds like a publisher's blurb, in its sweeping generalities - if you ignore the references to specific characters other ...

re: new race

I assumed, after reading chapter 1, that it is a throwaway reference, just like the "rods of the five wizards" reference in Saruman's rant against Gandalf.

In other words, it's a reference to something that we will never see, and is irrelevant to the main storyline of the Chronicles.

Well this at least answers one of the nagging questions that sprung to mind from chapter 1 of AATE, namely -

Well, not exactly the end of Narnia as you describe it. At the end of the Last Battle, there is a door created somehow (can't remember by who, probably Aslan). To escape the destruction of Narnia, all the creatures run towards the door, where Aslan is standing. Those that reject him run past the doo...

I always assumed that an image when first translated through a mirror came through as 'image sized' then rapidly grew to full size, once the translation was complete.

Re:Jeremiah's car

Perhaps we will learn in the third and fourth books that there is something more powerful than white gold - RED LEAD/TIN ALLOY!!!!! Fear the wrath of the Chosen as she wields the awe-inspiring powers of both the Staff of Law and red lead/tin alloy, using the krill of Loric to channel them to create ...

i wonder if the 7 wards were based on the 7 words... Probably not, since the new Lords at the start of the Chronicles knew some of the words (five I think) yet had only got the First Ward of Kevin's Lore, from the Giants. As pointed out in another thread, after the recovery of the Second Ward (duri...

Did anyone else notice that the phrase "Shall/should pass utterly" was actually used in Fatal Revenant? Can't recall when and where, but I know I read it in threre somewhere! I may also have seen "all things ending" in there as well.
