I did not run out to buy Fatal Revenant because of the slow start in Runes and that books perspective; Linden Avery.

On my first reading of the first trilogy I felt the stories were an allegory for the bodies fight against the leprocy; I connected the Bloodgaurd to the bloods imunity system, the lords to the intelectual fight to remain sane in the face of a disfiguring disease. TC himself was denial of the problem...

Foul is indistructable in the land/earth, he is from outside, like the creator, and therefore his existance is beyond the land. Foul represents the fact that even in the creators universe there is "Good and Evil", that there is no escape from the paradox- you cannot have good without evil....

I like the Idea of enlisting the forestals in the battles with fouls minions, they could not leave the forrests, but sure could help defeat the despiser when he attacted the upper land.
