Things have come up in my life, and I will not be able to post my dissection today. Look for it tomorrow night or on Friday at the latest.

I'll do Chapter 4, I suppose, since it's coming up. If anyone posts who really wants that chapter, just keep bumping me to the next free space.

Here's how I like to think about it: Breaking the Law of Death allowed the Dead to be brought back, but as tools rather than as people. Dead Kevin didn't "act" because he didn't *choose*. He attacked Foul on Elena's orders, and he attacked Elena on Foul's orders. Meanwhile, Covenant's Dead...

I had no problem with finding more of the banes of Mount Thunder--I *wanted* that to happen. I was a little surprised to find one more powerful that the Illearth Stone, which I assume to be the strongest--but that was my mistake. We've known for a long time that there are powers Foul is afraid of, s...

I can't overstate how worthwhile the third book is--I read the first two and left it at that for YEARS, unsure if I even wanted to finish. But the third book--it's one of the best things I've ever read. Not only does it excel where Donaldson excels--insightful characters, high passion, deals and bar...

Without Joan and her caesures, time travel should also be much more difficult. They'd need help from yet another insequent.

Presumably, the Command negated the illusions fashion by the Coryel and the Kastenessen-Hand -- both natives of the Land and subject to the Earthblood.

Worm-- The important point is not just that the Land is a dream, it's that it's HER dream. Therefore its properties are informed by her psychology.

Vraith--I submit that the car has no power in the same sense that the ring has no power--a rather arcane sense.

The point is that she knows from day one, because covenant told her, that they are the "main characters" of the land, and that the world revolves around them and their inner conflicts. Ergo, anything of sentimental importance to her--like Jeremiah's car--will turn out to have magical powers.

Bryan, I anticipated your objection, but stand by my phrasing. I don't think "interference" can be objectively defined. Insequent *choose* solitude, but there's quite a bit of evidence that they can work together when they desire to. Thus it's not proximity or anything like that that dooms...

I think I misspoke when I chalked it up to lore. What I meant was that the power of the Vow gave expression to their native earthpower, just as the lore of Kevin gave expression to the earthpower of the Lords. I had assumed that any form of expression was a kind of lore, but I now remember this is w...

Vraith-- that's because we know this is a fantasy book, where objects aren't mentioned unless important and everything is all symbolic and them-y. I think Raman/Stephen's objection is that while we know the car will be important, there is no way for Linden to know this, because she does not know tha...

Future of the Insequent

At present, I believe the following is the list of the Insequent mentioned, and their fates. Theomach --killed by Brinn Mahdoubt -- killed by Harrow Vizard -- killed by harrow Ardent -- killed by Harrow Auriference -- eaten by SWMNBN Harrow -- Killed by Roger So, that's all of them, all dead. There ...

I don't know that they would be redundant--Linden & Co are far more powerful than the old Lords, but her abilities are less useful. The old Lords had powers of communication and forbidding which would prove handy, since they need to forbid the worm. Personally, I assume the lore needed to forbid...

"Release" is definitely a better translation of Moksha than "enlightenment." It comes from a verb, Moks, which is used in the Puranas very literally when someone is, say, untied and let out of jail. Mokshah is also used in sanskrit philosophy for "enlightenment," of cou...

I think the horse's name is grandiose because of the Ardent's grand self-image, not necessarily because it's especially important.

The Haruchai were already Earthpowerful, though--maybe the vow is just a kind of lore that gives their inborn power expression.

I assumed that the construct made it impossible for any elohim to know where jeremiah was at all, not just to directly perceive him. So, even if Roger dropped Jeremiah off in the cave, as soon as the construct went up, Roger would forget where he had left Jeremiah.
