Australian Pics

I'm still cataloging the 500-600 pics I took on that trip, but I'm trying to get some uploaded of Ur-Vile, Infelice, and myself. Sky has asked that her pics not be posted. I really enjoyed meeting Ur-Vile and Infelice, but the time spent was way too short. Those two are tremendous people and very k...

Jon Lord, formerly of Deep Purple

Jon Lord, famous for his wonderful Hammond organ is less known for sensitive lyrics and classical scoring, but his "Pictured Within" Cd has several classics in it. The following was sung by Miller Anderson (Jon Lord wrote the music and lyrics) PICTURED WITHIN (lyrics by Jon Lord) here be ...

Nah, someone would find out the sandgorgons' names, trick someone into calling them, and the field would be suddenly empty of sandgorgons (leaving the other team an easy score). ;)

I used to have a copy of Electric Aunt Jemimah by Zappa. He was a musician's musician. I had a problem even playing the rhythm of his compositions. Very intelligent and a genius musically, but nothing musical that I could whistle going down the street. :)

Astros no-hit the Yankees!

Wow! When the Houston Astros starter, Oswalt went down in the 2nd inning with an injury, no one visualized that 5 pitchers (6 total counting Oswald), later, the Yankees would be no-hit by the Astros. It hadn't happened in Yankee stadium since 1958. The Yankees lost 8-0, and Joe Torre said that he h...

Thanks, Mhoram. I was amazed that one of my original posts was still around. I'll tell my daughter your compliment. I'm enclosing a new drawing. Knowing my predilection for Watership Down and Lord of the Rings , she drew a combination bunny/Gandalf and called it Bundalf! (Some of you may have seen ...

I've only read 10 of the Top 50. I agree with some, some not. I find it glaring that Jules Verne and H.G.Wells are absent. I agree with Mhoram that there should be a separate list for fantasy and sci-fi. :?

Hank Williams/Kenny Rankin

House of Gold Some people steal; they cheat and lie For wealth and what it will buy, But don't they know on Judgment Day That gold and silver will melt away. I'd rather be in a deep, dark grave And know that my poor soul was saved Than to live in this world in a house of gold, Deny my God, and lose...

Vaughn Williams has always been my favorite classical composer. I really enjoy the French and English composers: it's generally lovely music (not into the marches). Image

God Only Knows (IIRC) was the first rock hit to have the word God in the title. Exceptional song, sung by Carl Wilson and written by his brother, Brian. :)

Hey, if you're really in need of some weird idiocy on "truth" contact me, and I'll tell you where you can get some real died-in-the-wool sophists. When I took them to task about calling the LotR a "true myth," (I had the nerve to say that something can not be true and a myth at ...

As do I, Infelice. The better of the two soundtracks is the one by Mike Batt (who wrote Bright Eyes , but the rest of his soundtrack was rejected for some reason). Garfunkle sings a song on that CD as well. The whole CD is just full of gorgeous music. www.chrisspedding.com/session/mb/mb30.jpg

Actually, given the chance to meet you, Sky, or SRD personally, I'd choose you anyday. As brilliant as SRD is, he's not a buddy like you are. I feel that I'd have a greater chance of seeing SRD than seeing you here locally, so I'll settle for SRD, but who knows what the future brings? :D
