Given that he asked for (and received multiple extensions), I suspect he'll be unquietly crazy for a while. Maybe being a squeaky wheel will help!

We finally have some news, and I guess the issue remains inconclusive. "The Killing God": the long wait, phase two People who would like to read "The Killing God," Book Three of "The Great God's War," have been waiting for a long time. Not me. I've been holding my feet...

Where do we place our bets? I've got three handfuls of aliantha on #3. He's 74 this year. We're going on something like 6 years of gestation - and counting - for TGGW, from conception to publication of the final book. There isn't time for another series. I suspect he's well aware of all of this and ...

That's too bad. While I have read some really good self published stuff most of what I have read was bad. Quality of the writing aside, it seems like most self of the published authors I have read really need a good editor and trying to slog through a bunch of bad books for the occasional gem just ...

my books no longer earn enough to make them worth publishing Can someone explain this to me like I'm 5 years old? Is this the state of all book publishing now? I have no idea. Someone shared an article somewhere recently about this, I want to say on FB, so that means there's no chance I'll find it ...

I hope everything works out. I have bought, but not yet read, the first two books and was waiting for all of them to be read together. I have been really excited to read these and hope I still can. I'm in the same place. I'm assuming that the silence through Jan/Feb is a good thing - if he'd been s...

So, I don't know what the proper publishing words for these things are, but they changed the typeface and the type that they use for chapter headings, first letters of each chapter, etc. too (it now matches the US editions). It's hard to tell, since the pages are "shallower" than previous ...

Awww, what the HELL? :( I feel for you. I've been importing those UK copies here to the US myself because IMO they look better on the shelf than the American art. But...gah. If there's supposed to be something in the second one though, I don't see it (other than the two-tone background and lack of s...

Until recently, I was looking for updates every day myself. But, for him, the whole saga was finished when he turned in the final MS. How it sells, how it's reviewed - that's really all just icing on the cake. Important & delicious icing, but icing nonetheless.

Guess what finally showed up at my door today. Just finished my Runes reread last night: perfect timing. I have (my minor) complaints about the way this edition of FR was printed, but hopefully those will be my only complaints! For those who feared I would give in to reading topics on the ...

This is sort of an odd way to judge the book's popularity, but it's an interesting statistic: Several weeks ago, I was blogging about something and used the word "torrent." Since then, I've been getting quite a few hits from Google by people searching for album or book torrents. Searches f...

He should consider getting Oprah to push his books..... Colbert is a big Donaldson fan ... That I'd like to see, Donaldson on the Colbert Report. Is he really? How do you know that? Colbert was the D&D-type nerd when young, so it doesn't surprise me. But I'm also curious when/where he said this...

The book is a difficult read. That's good for us - dedicated Donaldson fans. I worry about how others will receive it. Which is why, in my review, I tried to stick to the positive. I *had* to comment on the ten dollar words, though. He seemed to lay off of them in ROTE, comparatively, but wow, he f...

Not only is the publisher-author connection a little funky, but also it's that the early success of one book in a series is loosely determined on the success of the previous book. So right out of the gate, FR was screwed. But now that people are reading it and getting a feel for it (and from what I'...

I've got at least another two weeks before my copy crosses the pond! (Actually, since I haven't finished Runes yet, I have to wait anyway. Still, gah.)
