I agree with your sentiments about fantasy authors - works of fiction are based in a world that already exists, whereas fantasy involves creating entire worlds from scratch...something which is very difficult to do without sounding derivative (as so much mediocre fantasy does). Presumably that's why...

A British actor who's been in...........things.........I can't bring to mind (I've never seen Withnail). Not sure about him as TC though. Capable actor, but "hellfire"-ing American leper anti-hero? Hmmmmmm...

The way I interpret it is: Despite (meaning LF) was essentially focused on the humans above anything else, and the humans were originally from outside the Land (perhaps another continent/country, in the manner of Brathairealm). LF only came to the Land because he was following the humans - he has no...

I always though that LA's extreme health-sense was sort of her gift, but it's an interesting thought that any healthy person from our world might have had the same health-sense as Linden. TC a leper and HT blind, we never found out. Hmmm... TC did indeed experience pain with the boots, but it seemed...

I would suspect they noticed his tendency to corrupt everything he touches even before he got to them. The Bloodguard were centuries old, and had probably seen a lot of corruption at Foul's hands...

Although TWL is one of my least-loved installments of TCTC, there is one feature in it that really struck me, and made me think (I believe I have mentioned this before, waaaaaaaay back when I first joined Kevin's Watch, nearly a year ago 8O ). It was relatively brief, but I remember finding myself l...

I think Ur-Vile means the Creator didn't know what antivenin is. "They bore you to the hospital for treatment. This treatment employs a thing which the Healers of your world name 'antivenin' " Ur-Vile was (I believe) proposing that if the Land's Creator also created our world, he would kno...

The Ravers are not Foul's creations, so I would imagine there is no intrinsic bond. It was never made entirely clear what did cause the Ravers to serve (or at least co-operate with) LF.

Weren't the Demondim a noble and lofty race? (if slightly inappropriately named - "demon" and "dim" are hardly complimentary words...)

Indeed. I can't help thinking the Hollywood studios would probably cut all the controversial bits - the bits that lift TCTC above your average fantasy fare. I also can't really see how they could express all the internal struggles that occur within various characters in the Chronicles. But I think i...

I took it to be a guide to Covenant as to how to use the wild magic. In that it works like a limb, an extension of TC (or whoever is wielding it) rather than an external force... Or at least, that's the meaning I got from that comment in the context it was made...
