TC's refusal to "take matters into his own hands" was actually one of the (many) things I liked about the first Chronicles. It made him real.

Although the second chronicles are emotionally involving - with moments of despair, joy, hope, and just coolness (I'm talking about Nom) - to me, the first chronicles just work better. I find them better written, better conceived, and nothing in the second chronicle...
