I don't know for sure but my guess is they're visitors who aren't logged into accounts - so, in practice, probably bots.

Discord occupies a lot of the same functions that forums used to. When I first started using Discord it seemed to be just a forum but worse and more limited. That view hasn't changed; I've just got used to it.

Reminds me of the early days of the Watch, when there were about 20 members 👴

I never could get into his Pendragon books...or anything else by him either IIRC. The first one in the series was a struggle. I'm surprised I persisted. It gets much better once Merlin/Myrddin is born. (As an aside, I've been learning Welsh over the last few months, and as a side effect I can now p...

I've started reading Stephen Lawhead's Empyrion . I've read his Pendragon Cycle more than once, but didn't get along with Hood when I tried to read that, so this one could go either way. So far so fine, though it did make me flinch when he referred to something displaying 'in the corner of the oval ...

I've only moved up one bracket! I was 20 when I arrived, and I'm 39 now.

After your reaction to me casually wandering in a few months back, how could I resist doing it again?

If I went to the e-E-Fest, I don't think anyone would know who I am

For quite a while I've struggled with mustering the mental energy to read as much as I'd like, so I'm trying out short stories to see if I find them more easily digestible. Right now I'm dabbling in Into the Shadows , which is a compilation of Shadowrun stories. Cyberpunk plus magic! And the c...

It may be the difference in the medium .. I saw the movie and wasnt wowed by it .. didnt totally hate it but didnt love it either. I found the movie a little fragmented which the book maybe ties it better in your Russian doll analogy .. dunno. But am interested to read the book now do many of you h...

Indeed I was. There were about six of us back then.

I'm not sure that I really count as still existing here, but I make it something like 18 years. It was late 2001/early 2002.

Saints

Statues of saints flanked the broad avenue that languidly slouched toward the crumbling capitol building as it squatted on the urban horizon, listing slightly as though sinking into quagmire of its own creation. The saints seemed unimpressed, their weather-pocked faces gouged erratically into disdai...

I had tried to dig this game up a while back. I ended up needing to use a DOS simulator to get it to work, because it would only work on old versions of DOS. Did you have to do that, CovenantJr? Haven't tried playing it yet. But as I like to play Pixel Dungeon, I would probably enjoy it. The versio...

Thanks, all. It's a weird nostalgic sensation seeing the old haunts. It looks a lot like the old Ultima games. So by "roguelike," do you mean randomized for each time you play it? I haven't played enough to be sure yet (ur-viles kill me a lot) but it seems as though the general world map i...

The Land - an old 'roguelike' game set in, well, the Land

I don't frequent Kevin's Watch anymore but I thought I should share this. I've been trying to find a working version of this game for a while. It's roughly a 'roguelike' - i.e. a difficult, simple-ish RPG with some degree of randomised content to increase replay value. Originally created in the 1980...
