What are you reading in general?

Just read The Great Gatsby for the first time since high school, and it's a really good book. As my dad would say, "Whodathunk!"

What's playing?

So before the pandemic I subscribed to that MoviePass thing, and then when it folded I moved to Regal Unlimited, and now that I'm thinking of going to the theater again (haven't since BC times {that's Before Covid}), I'm considering Regal Unlimited again. But then I thought, "why bother for Dis...

Whatcha been playing lately?

I think I beat the first boss in Valheim, but didn't go further. It seems like a great game for playing with friends, which, channeling George Thorogood, "I game alone."

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once

This movie made a lot more sense to me when I read they originally wrote it for Jackie Chan :D

He he he

Long time gamer, and let me say there was a lot of furor over the story when the second one came out. Which I'm low-key excited to see play out with the TV show.

So I guess, technically, you don't really own that ebook

I was thinking about this over the weekend and the implications of the digital age we find ourselves in. It is highly likely that we will one day deal with all kinds of data being digitally altered in the future. Not just books, but it could be digital historical information, personal information, ...

Well the TV series only covers the first six books as I recall, so there are four more books' worth for you to enjoy :)

Consoles aren't worth it - at least for me

So a few years ago I picked up a PS5, thinking it had two main advantages over PC gaming. 1) Simplicity 2) Exclusives The second, while nice, isn't that big a deal. The big games either have come to PC already or have been announced to have ports in the works. The first one, though, really annoys me...

You are converting kinetic energy into electricity, This is the part that was tripping me up. I was assuming that a Faraday disc would affect the magnetic field and electric current, but not the kinetic force of the spinning disc. This is incorrect. Even a frictionless flywheel that could, in theor...

Obviously I’m not addressing your math. I'm literally asking for help with the math though, so it's not obvious at all. My gut reaction is to say this can't possibly be useful, for exactly the reasons you outlined. But then I decided to plug the numbers in and got a surprising result; my next gut...

Are you taking into account that turning the alternator would require an *extra* expenditure of energy equal to or more than the amount it generates? All my math is above. Anyway, I couldn't find anything about how to compute the actual energy output based on inputs. Google is an engine designed to...

Just grab a high school physics book and do a search/replace, turning all the periods into semi-colons :P

Seriously though, my first though was "I'd rather describe the method than any particular fact," but couldn't formulate a decent one. When I read yours I liked it.

I suppose if I understood anything about the Irish civil war, this movie would have had some additional implications. After watching it I looked up reviews online, and found a lot of comments saying how heavy handed it was as a metaphor for the civil war, so... probably? But I know nothing about it...

Did no one else see this yet? Ralphes Fiennes plays a chef dedicated to haute cuisine, fed up with both the bastardization of his craft and the indifference of those who supposedly appreciate it (diners and critics). He decides to serve one final meal, specifically tailored to each of the guests in ...

Loved this film, and I agree with the reviewer who laughed throughout it. Although I will happily admit that I found it equally disturbing and funny!

Interesting to see the different takes. For me, ep3 was one of the best pieces of television I've ever watched - not many shows (or movies, for that matter) make me tear up anymore, but boy did the waterworks get going by the end. If you listen to the podcast, Neil Druckman (the creator of the game)...

Just as not every restaurant is McDonalds, not every game will be FIFA. There will always be room for different offerings and experiences though, as with restaurants, you may have to go out of your way to find them (and you might have to pay a premium, as well). As for the next Elder Scrolls, have y...
