one interpretation i've been fond of was that the vagrant is not the creator. that is, he's some sort of caretaker only. the creator moved on to other projects b/c he suffers no despair.

wait, the old man is the creator??? it's been a while since i read the first series and i always thought he was more of like a caretaker/angel type. that is, the creator moved on and the old man stayed b/c he cared.

LF can't move through time for the same reason I can't swim through dirt the way little worms can... I was built too big for that world, whereas they were built specifically for it. that's not too shabby an answer. -- also, in what way would it benefit Lord Foul to travel through time? he sort of h...

Re: Insequent Names

Among the Insequent is the Theomach. Another real word. Theomachy means "battle with the gods", or "battle among the gods". Theomachist and theomach are "someone who opposes divinity or who fights against God or the gods”. Most interesting. Is the Theomach someone who fight...

there is no problem with the Insequent introduction for me. i see two ways they could be "fit" into the series: 1. they are a new plot device to "explain" things and introduce new interesting characters. having the same races (giants, elohim, haruchai, et. al.) is kind of boring....

my understanding is that the Theomach can travel thru time at will and his only concern is how the timeline is shaped. i also agree that he is most definitely not dead. as for the question of how he travels thru time, it is like any other power... there is more than one way and Caesures are not the ...

in a way, i agree... this book did quite a bit to "explain" a lot of things and events that had been previously mythical or mysterious. while i had great, "a-ha!" moments, i also can't help but feel a bit let down... oh, is that it? to be fair, he has also given a lot of other my...

i think a serialized format is best fitting as well either as animation or graphic novels. forget the movie... too much to cut out (unless they make it like the Lord of the Rings trilogy... 4 hours each movie - 10 movies in total!)

i don't think the Theomach is dead; rather, i think he planned the whole "ak-haru" mythos for the Haruchai so that he could "give up" his guardianship. The Theomach was already the Guardian of the One Tree before the Haruchai ever met - and got their asses kicked by - the Vizard...

The only thing that bugged me in this book was the fact that Linden kept repeating "Let's do this." heh, my only pet peeve regarding an overly repetitive use of words was her calling Jeremiah, "honey" and Jeremiah calling her "mom." it just felt awkwardly written to me...

i believe SD addressed this in the gradual interview and he did say it was a typeface/font issue. (although, he may have been referring to another book, not necessarily Fatal Revenant... read too many of the GIs so it's kind of a blur) i don't think that it differs except in the spelling of some wor...

hi there

hello all! i've been reading this forum for a little bit after finding Runes of the Earth at a local barnes and noble discount bin... i had no idea there was a new series. 8O finally decided to register to participate in the FR forum. normally, i don't like to read book series that aren't completed ...

i don't think the Theomach is dead; rather, i think he planned the whole "ak-haru" mythos for the Haruchai so that he could "give up" his guardianship. i think the Insequent view of the Elohim is accurate. the Elohim is like nature and they have no inherent sense of good or evil....
