My problem is that I no longer trust the "first chapter teaser". I've made me peace with Against All Things Ending, but the first chapter which got me so excited when I read it was, in my opinion, quite different to the rest of the book. True, certainly when reminded of 'Runes..' prologue...

'The Twelve', by Justin Cronin. The sequel to 'The Passage'. I liked it a lot, the plotting and orchestration of many characters towards an explosive climax reminded me of 'A Dark and Hungry God Arises'.

'J.Strange and M. Norell' is one of the best (genre) books I've read in the past ten years. It's smart and subtle and wonderfully bittersweet in tone. Don't miss out.

It's opening this week, worldwide. There is a connection between 'The Chronicles...' and 'John Carter', with a protagonist traveling from our world to another. Although, John Carter does not suffer so much from disbelief. Or despair. Or leprosy. Another successful aspect of the world of Barsoom / Ma...

An early press screening, the embargo has just lifted. The marketing campaign, as has been duly noted elsewhere, does not do the film justice.

Resurrected this old topic, as 'John Carter' is finally ready to be unleashed on the world. Having seen it, I can confidently recommend it.

A sincere, wholehearted adventure story. Very well done.

U, I like the Insequent, actually..... The way SRD has fit them into the history and the present of the Chronicles is an astonishing bit of retro-fitting. Agreed, he managed to hang a huge amount from the thinnest of straws; a few glimpses through the fog and a Haruchai myth out of nowhere (only ac...

Although it pains me to say it, as I was so much looking forward to another and new stroll in the Land, I have to agree that TLC have lost my interest as well. I did buy all three installments as soon as possible, though. But frankly, I was disappointed again and again.
