Nah, never heard of it. :D Finished The Thousandfold Thought on the weekend, busy with The Judging Eye , the first book of Bakker's Aspect-Emperor series. (and my least favourite of the bunch so far.) --A It is quite interesting. A taxonomy of fantasy, dividing it in four categories, portal/quest, ...

I'm getting there ... hold your bumps. Was that a nuclear explosion at the end of the Dagliash? I can't imagine anything else that would produce such sickness in people. My god. Horrific. The earthquake just happened, and Khellus returned. I just read the part where he supposedly died, but I ...

Thanks, Hiro. I don't think you're wrong, I just think there's more to it (as you admit might be the case). Here's the relevant text, bold is my emphasis: "The World was wild with Cause, true, but it could be overcome . How could so few [Dunyain] exact such a toll otherwise? The ferocity of th...

I'm about halfway through TGO. I think the book is great so far, even though very little has actually happened. People are having conversations, basically. Making decisions. But the revelations are fascinating. The best chapters by far are the ones with Akka and Mimara, and what they find at Ishual...

SerScot, Hiro, Avatar, are any of you any closer to completing this leg of the slog? It is completed, it took me a bit longer than expected because of the density and obscurity of the writing. I enjoyed TGO a lot, much more than TJE and I guess more than WLW as well. More detailed remarks hidden: I...

Indeed, Avatar :). Books. And hey, release was yesterday! Speaking of which, I had preordered several weeks ago at Amazon.de. Hiro, nice to see you around. :D I must say I never noticed the starlight / moonlight thing. Now that you've mentioned it, it shall probably stand out a mile in my upcoming reread. :D As for Esme...she always strikes me as a terribly tragic figure. Perhaps a little over-compensated in this very mis...

So, after reading about this series for a long while, I finally got around this year to read it. Some brief thoughts: I found the inclusion of philosophy in a fantasy world, which I personally haven't read elsewhere, refreshing and different. The world itself is intriguing, I especially liked that t...

The problem is this interpretation borders on the esoteric. I thought that since She mustn't be named, then surely She had a name that she mustn't hear but would ultimately be revealed. Right. Since SRD creates what he needs, this seems odd. Reading the replies to this topic I am still not convince...
