And one comment that really didn't fit in the stuff I wrote just above (at some point I need to move my comments away from the "is this a bad book" thread, but this seems to be the going discussion at the moment). One sequence I totally loved in FR was where Linden added to the Mahdoubt's ...

finn: I agree, there are certainly plenty of 'bad guys' to fill up another book. Even if it's dark. I loved going back in time and meeting Berek -- I was hoping for a few more trips like that to really experience the Land's history, and I think I'm not going to get it. I would rather sections like t...

The Creator will bring Jeremiah in for a cup of tea, and apologize for putting him through all that but he had to know that Jeremiah was a truly good boy.

Then they step into the magic elevator and burst through the Arch of Time and sail over London, as the credits roll.

I would buy that Anele's purpose was derailed, that all the obstacles prevented him from getting to where he could do whatever it was he was supposed to do, *but* his foresight in transferring the earthpower to Jeremiah winds up allowing Jeremiah to complete his purpose. There are plenty of examples...

Oh, one other observation. I really enjoyed the sequence earlier on where Linden went back in time and encountered Berek. That was a highlight, giving flesh and character to the legend. But in AATE, when we met Berek, Loric, Damelon and Kevin all at once, it turned into a showing of the Hall of Pres...

I just finished AATE a few nights ago, and still mulling it. Creator knows it was a long, hard read. I remember really being bored by ROTE when I first read it. Three years later, when FR came out, I reread ROTE to get ready, and liked it more, understood more of it. FR was a slog, though. This time...

I actually thought we were going to get the tale of Bahgoon the Unbearable but I guess not.
Don't count on it. It's a giantish tale and is long in the telling. SRD would need to write a whole 'nother trilogy to get that one done.

I've had a mini-heirloom skillet -- good for frying a couple of eggs. This is the first one I've ever had and plan to use full-time. The packaging said it's "pre-seasoned." A search of Amazon for a random brand (not necessarily the one I have) says the following: "which has been evenl...

For the grill - cut potato into small pieces, throw them into a pile on a sheet of aluminum foil, add generous amounts of butter, salt, and fresh garlic. Wrap the whole pile in the aluminum foil, throw on the grill and leave them for about 25-30 minutes on low-med flame. Carefully open foil, and en...

Wait a minute, I wrote that song...

Mellony pointed me to this forum to discuss music, as I write song lyrics. The name of the forum struck me, because I actually wrote a song called "Vespers" -- it's a collaboration with California composer Ian Ferrin. You can listen to it here: zmulls.com/lyrics2_show?LyricNum=74 (Ian like...

Simple to Spectacular

Menolly told me if I wanted to talk about my cast iron skillet I should do so here. It came pre-seasoned, actually, and I can just about lift it with one hand. (A giant could lift it with little problem. S/he could probably also use it for a more challenging caamora). Anyway, I used it last night wi...

Zmulls, Nulls, anybody else suspicious? ;) --A There is a story behind the name "Z. Mulls" though it's a tedious one that would bore even a giant, frankly. FWIW, it's my chosen pen name for my songwriting, and I've been using it in one form or another online for many years. There's no &qu...

Words, words, words

I've been reminded that as new poster I should stand on the tip of Kevin's Watch and introduce myself. I hope you can all see me through the Dirt. Like many, I read the original series in the Red/Blue/Green paperbacks in high school and still have them. By the time I discovered the Chronicles, the s...

No, Covenant == Foul is not the surprise ending I'm dreading. That would be too much of a cliche (and would be the ending to THE PRISONER all over again. ....I'm more concerned that with the time wrap-arounds, it's going to transpire that Jeremiah is really the young Covenant......I don't *think* th...

Better the second time

Sounds like a lot of people had the same experience I did, ROTE was better the second time around. I really hated it the first time, but reread it to get ready for FR. It made more "sense" the second time around. I think the main reaction to the book the first time was "hey, this is t...
