I guess it's a little late to join the discussion now BUT I LOVED THAT MOVIE SO MUCH!!! I can't understand that there are people who actually think that Tobey was a bad choice for Peter Parker. I don't really know the Spiderman comic books, although I read a few superhero comics when I was a kid and...

I loved the trailer and I really wanted this to be a horror movie! Obviously, I was disappointed. When the interesting part of the movie began, it was over. The twists were a bit boring although I didn't see them coming. The final twist left me disappointed because it didn't lead to anything. I gues...

The Last Unicorn (live-action movie)

Have you seen this? www.the-last-unicorn.net/ akas.imdb.com/title/tt0314301/ I'm really looking forward to see this movie since - or even though? - I love the animated film (I haven't read the book yet, although it's been waiting on my shelf for ages). It could be another LOTR moment. *sigh* Still I...

Nothing against any French people on this board. It's just that my French sucks.

Hi Dilthey! Sure you're welcome. I'll send you the application form (in German, of course). 8)

"Translation/publication rights to "The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" have been sold in Germany and Holland. The German publisher will be Heyne. The Dutch publisher will be Luitingh. Apparently this deal means that the previous six "Covenant" books will also be reissue...

Oh, I haven't seen that. Great! But it will take them ages to translate the books...*sigh* Maybe I'll buy one of those US/UK hardbacks in october. No, I MUST buy one. BTW: I found a used hardback copy of "White Gold Wielder" (Del Rey) in a second-hand English book shop. For 7 Euro, I think...

I was 18 and I'm going to re-read them now for the second time, at 31/32. Took me a long time to feel ready for it again. But this is probably the perfect age to read them. Thomas was about 30 during the First Chrons, Linden during the Second Chrons. It will be interesting to see if it will be diffe...

Hm...this is strange. I think the movie started in German cinemas last week, and the dubbing normally takes some time. :?

Yes, but that's exactly what annoys me, in a way. I nearly opened a thread with the title: What would have happened if Terisa wasn't so gorgeous? First of all, Eremis would have killed her at the beginning... I know what you mean, Myste. But this is an extremely difficult and (in my eyes) abs...

I think it would be a better love story if Terisa wasn't so extremely beautiful and sexy. It seems like a logical conclusion that everyone desires her, so Geraden is no big exception. Of course, he loves her mind, too, but come on...it's easier to love someone's mind/soul if he/she looks like "...

Hm, no, Oliver Platt as Gilbur? Hi Myste! Kate Winslet isn't a bad choice, the body/colors would fit the description well, and I like her as an actress. But I still favor Keira Knightley. I know, Terisa isn't exactly fragile and willowy...and I didn't imagine her exactly to look like Keira. But some...

Kragen = German word for "collar" The name Eremis reminds me of another Musketeer, I think he was called Aramis. 'Remis' (french) is also a word from Chess (=draw). And to make things even more confusing: "Eremit" is the German word for hermit. But I never thought of this, while ...

No, not just a guy thing...;) I haven't seen the second volume yet, but the first one had some really brilliant, breathtaking, beautiful scenes (especially those including the adorable Ms Lucy Liu). I'm really curious what the second part will be like. After all the Tarantino-look-a-likes that we've...

They weren't too bad, they just didn't seem worth all the fuss to me. Expecially "A Beautiful Mind".

Yes, I agree with danlo. I haven't read a lot of fantasy since I finished the Chronicles. Only Lord of the Rings and Anne Rice, if you want to call Anne Rice a fantasy writer. But I think I won't ever read something by Tad Williams again. His way of storytelling in the Osten Ard series is really a p...

I used to have a BIG arachnophobia. In a way I still have it but it's improved over the last few years, so I'm actually able to bring out those small daddy longlegs who seem to be everywhere. I've somehow made friend with them by now. Poor fellas don't have much to eat in my apartment, so I bring th...
