I'm a big fan of Arthur C. Clarke and the late Stanley Kubrick (shocked when he died in 1999), and what jumpstarted my interest in them was 2001: A Space Odyssey . I saw it first on TV, when I was 11 or 12, and, despite the less-than-great TV picture quality then, the movie still managed to mesmeriz...

Rendezvous With Rama happens to be my favorite Arthur C. Clarke novel, so I do have high expectations for the movie adaptation. It seems to be in good hands.

Good words, great ROdAN. We did expect the highest standard from anything with the STAR WARS name, so it's been hard for us, who grew up with the original movies in our blood, to admit that George Lucas has probably lost the "magic."
