Since Laurel can heal, and she's with Skyseeker and Marrik, I follow Led to see what's wrong. "Led, are you well?"

"And I will help show the Volk the truth."

"The Doom? The Doom has returned? Oh no."

"Many would go to war with the elves just because they are elves. They would not stop with just the leaders."

"The 'Volk are a fractured people. Many tribes, with many hatreds. Some are now allied... allied WILLINGLY with these demon-elves. Others, like me, would stand up to fight them. If they knew."

I continue to help the freed Volk out of the cage. I check if any of them need healing or other aid. "Don't worry, we've come to rescue you. Quickly, let us leave this place."

I collect them together, and try to get them ready to leave.

Do we have horses they can ride?

I move north to talk to the rescued Volk.

I cast Cure Light Wounds on Led, when I get there.

[Heal check on Marrik.] If Marrik needs additional healing, cast Cure Light Wounds from my ring.

I cast Cure Moderate Wounds on either Vynarkus or Marrik, whichever is in more need of healing.

I perform Cure Moderate Wounds on Vynarkus. As I do, I say to the becalmed shifter, "We mean you no harm, just your master the elf."

[Can I make a spellcraft roll? To tell that the elf was a wizard instead of a sorceror?]

I cast Calm Emotions. Then I move to Vynarkus' side and prepare to heal him.

Edit: I center the effect 15' behind the shifter (three squares west). The 20' radius should include the shifter not Marrik.

Oops. I didn't realize we were waiting for me to post. Sorry everybody.

I move southwest, so that I have a clear shot at the shifter without also hitting Vynarkus or Marrik. If the shifter continues to attack, I use the wand again.

I draw the wand of Sonic Blast, turn and shoot the enemy shifter.

I cast Empowered Magic Missile at the elf.

I move 30' north.

"Led, wait." I cast aid on Led. "May the Unknowable protect you from harm."

"'Punishing' the Volk? All the clans will rise up against them. And wish to slaughter all of the elves for those crimes."

<gasp> "The spell he is casting will open a gate to another plane. He could be calling demons here to hunt us. We should flee. Quickly."

<gasp> "The Darkwood is rising again? Who stands against them? Sverdhame? The other elves?"

"We have to stop this! Those warlocks are working with the tribes of my people and the frost giants to destroy the elves. I don't know why, but... we can't let them do it." I glance around at the others present. I pay attention especially to the stranger elves. I want to see how they react...
