Christian Imagery
Just finished The Killing God. No spoilers here, but suffice to say Donaldson has outdone himself. What a great read! One of the things I've wondered about through the whole trilogy is the prominence of Christian symbology in the Great God's War. Rile, our villain, is a tyrant, desperate for control...

Looking for Andelain Art Image
Admittedly this is a bit of a strange request, but I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to the image of Andelain from the book Realms of Fantasy book. It's the source image that Kevin's watch utilizes. I found a JPEG searching online, but curiously it is missing Covenant and Linden in the shaft of ...

The Killing God Delayed
Amazon.uk now has a Oct. 13 2022 date listed for The Killing God; a year later than was indicated a few months back. This can't be good news. Perhaps Gollanz is getting cold feet. Other sites are listing the same date as well.

Reviews
Early unofficial reviews are in through Goodreads. Looks like those that liked it enjoyed the world-building and weren't that put-off by the main character. Those that took a negative view often thought that Price Bifalt was too unlikable. It is true that SRD does have a tendency to write challengin...

Amazon Last Dark Description
Compelled step by step to actions whose consequences they could neither see nor prevent, Thomas Covenant and Linden Avery have fought for what they love in the magical reality known only as "the Land." Now they face their final crisis. Reunited after their separate struggles, they discover...

What Exactly is the Worm of the World's End?
Recently Donaldson commented a bit mischievously that the reason Lord Foul didn't rouse the Worm himself was that he was afraid of being eaten. I was intrigued, having never entertained the possibility. I emailed Stephen using the GI pondering why this was. It seemed that even if Foul were diminishe...

Booklist Review of Runes
Amazon.com has a review of Runes from Booklist. I've pasted an excerpt of it below. Expect some spoilers in the main Amazon article. All in all a good way to start. "Filled with splendid inventions (occasionally described to the point of prolixity), this book promises extremely well for the fut...

Cover Art for U.S. Edition of Runes
Didn't see this topic already posted so I went ahead.
So, what do we think of Whelan's work on Runes? I find it breathtakingly beautiful! My only minor concern is the rather large white poodle-like creature. What IS that?
Lets thank our lucky stars that Michael is doing all FOUR covers.

Just a thought, but since Donaldson himself has said that Foul will be manipulating time this time around and since the Law of Death is still broken, what's stopping more than one incarnation of Covenant from being in the Land...a ghost-like one, a past version or some future entity? Also, since Cov...

Good advice! That makes sense Joy. And I certainly can't fault Mr. Donaldson for his honesty.

Joseph Campbell
Well, now we know how SRD feels about Campbell and the Hero's Journey. I most assuredly won't be asking any more questions along those lines! Sheesh! I vaguelly remember Campbell saying something about fiction and heroes, but dismissed it as misguided. My one criticism of Campbell, who I admire grea...

Regarding the Timetable of the Last Chronicles Completion
Has anyone else noticed SRD's comments in the Gradual Interview portion of the official website where he says he has perhaps nine more years of work to do on the Last Chronicles? Now I'm not about to complain since I'm as excited as the next person about Runes coming out in the fall but I was a bit ...

Between TPTP and TWL
Here's a question that hopfully hasn't been kicked around too much in the forums. How were the lords and Revelstone defeated in the years following Covenant's victory in the Power That Preserves and why was Covenant not summoned to help? I can't recall if SRD explained at all what happended or if he...

Many thanks to those who posted a reply! I found a listing for Epic Fantasy. The only downside is the cost at $34.00.

Fantasy in the Modern World
Has anyone ever heard of a book or an article by Donaldson entitled Fantasy in the Modern World: A Few Observations? I've seen reference to it numerous times but cannot locate it. Publication date is 1986.

Last Chronicles
Please forgive this new posting of a topic I'm sure is being discussed in another thread. I simply couldn't find it. I've also made some of these observations before but couldn't resist tying them all together and perhaps generating a dialogue. I've been reading the posts and following the intellige...

More Publisher Information
Publishers Weekly online has a small mention (1/16/04) concerning Donaldson and the new Covenant books. To summarize, the article by John Baket states that a deal was struck with Putnam for the quartet of new books with Donaldson's agent Howard Morhaim (Mhoram?) and will publish the first of them, T...

Publisher News
Great news about Runes being listed on Amazon.com in the U.K. even if the details are nebulous at best right now. I've visited the Putnam/Berkeley publishing site, actually its the Berkley Publishing Group, Penguin Putnam, Inc. They are the second biggest English language trade book publisher in the...

Incredible News!
To be able to read The Runes of the Earth this fall 04 is beyond my wildest dreams! Like everyone else I can hardly wait! My only worry is that it will come out the same day as Gilliam's Brother's Grimm and then I'll have to choose!
