Against All Things Ending, Part 2, Chapter 9, Great Need

This is to me the climactic chapter so far of the Last Chronicles. Linden has given everything and done everything for Jeremiah’s sake, her son. By saying trust her , Covenant has effectively become his father. What happens from here on out may be largely dependent on him (speculation, but I’m sure ...

There was one thing in this chapter that really bothered me- Linden's disregard and sort of abandonment of her son to other people for care. If my son had been abducted, I can't imagine not just holding his little hand all the time and making him stay very very close to me. Is it supposed to mean s...

Shall I wait for them before I do chapter 9? Well as far as my part is concerned, I started writing the chap. 7 dissection yesterd...

the Haruchai as Masters

According to their brutal logic, they can accept ruin at the hands of Lord Foul, made easier by the people of the Land being bereft of Earthpower. What they can't accept is ruin at the hands of their friends, people of the land using Earthpower and then succumbing to despair. The former is defeat un...

The first series was only worth it to me by the second time. The second seriest and last series, really only by the third time. I will read them all at least a fourth time, probably more.

The ur-vils's ultimate goal

I don't know whether this is off-topic or not, but it seems to me that there is some connection between the Elohim and the Ur-Viles. I am merely speculating of course. But in order for Vain to achieve his purpose (merging with Findail) the Ur-Viles would have to have had some intimate knowledge of ...
