Shaun: Thank you for asking, yes, I'm a bit better off. Still having a nasty cough, and probably'll have to wait for a fortnight or so before I can resume my (bi)weekly hikes. Two weeks eh? That sucks. Luckily, it's not like artists/writers go nuts without their exercise regimes. Oh... hang on. I'l...

Re: Movie pacing: one person's "boring" is another

.....The last movie I got involved in watching was The Remains of the Day , with Anthony Hopkins in the lead as as a manservant in pre-WWII England. Slow paced it was but I thought it was good. I had to watch this recently for work and was surprised at how much more I enjoyed it the second time aro...

First instinct, no idea why, Cameron Diaz 8O

Other questionably-saner instincts:

I haven't seen that much House...was she any good in her recurring role? She seemed to polarize the audience: you were either a Cameron/Jennifer Morrison fan or you weren't. Wasn't a huge fan myself, but that may have been due to problems I had with her character. Haven't seen Once Upon a Time yet ...

Hello again Danlo, Just wanted to drop you a line to say I've been reading and enjoying your updates, (rest assured you're not 'writing into the wind' :D), but haven't contributed further because I need to re-read the chapter and don't own the book. (My first read was courtesy of the library and too...

Exactly 200 words, and with deepest apologies to the kind-hearted spirit of the real Shaun! ".... and the winner is Shaun das Schaf!" Shaun’s song muffled the sound of him unloading his gun and dropping six bullet-sized pellets into his sheepskin manbag. For twenty years he'd been draggin...

Hi Danlo, Funny, I remember that very line jumping out at me too. I also remember being very interested in what Donaldson had to say in this chapter about knowledge, time and action. (Well, not just in this chapter, given 'the Necessity of Freedom' is a constant theme in the Chronicles.) For me, it'...

Halfway through Bel Canto , by Ann Patchett, because it was light (actual weight, not literary weight) and I was on a plane. Ok so far, and certainly much quicker to read than Gene Wolfe! I've never read any Ann Patchett before. And in response to the Perfume comments above, (or Scent of a Woman as ...
