I think the movies are a disgrace to the books. Even for a children fantasy (but the kids don't know it). The plot in the first movie for example, is extremely rough. It does not flow it all. Instead, its sections and pieces of the book are put together like random episodes. The acting was terrible ...

Gawd, why do they have to always have these funky names in fantasies, like Theo~ this and Egora~ that. Nobody ever uses names like Bob or Mike.

I love the way he wrote in first perspective. Most books like that put me to sleep, but the guy has great sense of humour.

Malfoy

I have only read the first three novels, but:

Is anyone else bothered by the severe evil-child stereo-type that Malfoy represents. He seems to be totaly unrealistic and absent of any benevolent emotions. I hate characters that are forced to be evil.

Look, I don't know about "The Lord of the Rings," but the "Hobbit" is definetly not worth so much appreciation. My major problem with the book is the plot. The whole story is forced, Bilbo being literly pushed into going on an "Adventure." It didn't feel natural. The wh...

A first few pages? Thats it?

If I had only judged Lord Foul's Bane by its first pages I wouldn't have even bothered to continue because the beggining reminded me of the deathly boring "Scarlet Letter."

Redwall

Has anybody read a book or portions of the series? In case you don't know, Redwall is an Animal/Fatansy novel/series authored by Brian Jaques. Although pretty much all of the books are formula based, I found each one a pleasent read. And hold Redwall, Mossflower, Martin, and Long Patrol among my fav...
