Yeah, the message is kinda vague. I agree with the above theories in that Nick was just trying to get a rise out of Hashi.

I could definately see that...especially off of his Sin City performance.

How could Morn have known that Calm Horizons was out of gap courier drones?

Guttergangs

There's quite a bit of discussion about guttergangs in the Gap Cycle. Three of the series' most prominent characters have origins in guttergangs (Angus Thermopyle, Milos Taverner, and Warden Dios). It's kind of interesting how they went on completely different paths despite similar origins.. Anyways...

A Dark and Hungy God Arises

Hmmm, this is a tough one...but I gotta go with ADAHGA here. I like the fact that no one character really had a dominating presence. Angus was powerful, but kept in check by Milos. Milos had no real power and some shaky alliances. Nick is compromised, but very dangerous. The Bill is powerful too, bu...

Over the course of the last 3 books, the Amnion lost two of their best warships. The humans, meanwhile, were cranking out ships like Sledgehammer with thier mass production. Chances are the humans would win a war with moderate to heavy losses. Of course, that all hinges on whether the Amnion can dev...

I thought he was pretty slimey at first myself. Using Angus like that and then going behind Dios' back with Free Lunch.

But, like a lot of the characters, I think he manages to redeem himself in the end.

Yeah, I think he was just illustrating just how low society was in that universe. Even more interesting, I think, is that Angus and Nick pay very little attention to it - as if it happens all the time.

You will become a shadow of what I am - you will be a despiser without the courage to despise.

Hmmm, it is possible and has been predicted. I think it would be an interesting twist, myself.

I think Vin Diesel would make a great Angus. When I first saw Pitch Black, I was like,"OMG, that guys is soooo Angus!". He's very edgy and seems to know how to handle himself.

I think Morn and Davies are the closest thing your going to find to heroes in the Gap series. And thats kind of a stretch too. Its kind of strange - everyone IS a hero at times, and other times they anti-heroes.

I compeletely agree with the above quote. Actually, I found one of the most facinating chapters in the whole series was 'Marc' in TDAGD. Its the only true glimpse into Amnion thinking and culture. And becuase its so brief - offering just a few insights from Marc's point of view - it does effectively...
