Me?
I'm going to go back and re-read the first two to get the bad taste out of my mouth. Everything since the Prologue to RoE ended was downhill.

But the main issue is entirely not with the characters, it is the lack of pay-off. The four books are intended to be four volumes of a single story. In three years we will be able to see these volumes in the context of the whole. I have to agree with the sentiments expressed in the above. From my o...

Thanks for the explanations, but I'm afraid I'm still not particularly getting it. Donaldson has these themes, OK. But I think he's letting the themes take over and drive everything. Which may be OK on the level of plotting, but on the level of storytelling (and my kind of reading) I think they nee...

Looking at this one again... If Joan's got the sea behind her, then she's not in the Sarangrave (which is separated from the Sea by the Great Swamp). She might be at Coercri , or near Foul's Creche, unless she's somewhere else. The ceasure that took Anele, I think, was the one that Linden created to...

The Bloodguard are tough, and Revelstone is a huge force multiplier, but we've seen that Bloodguard can die if they're outnumbered heavily enough. Eventually Revelstone would have run out of food and everyone inside starved to death, and at that point the Bloodguard would have eventually been beaten...

The thing I was thinking, as I went through the re-read, was this: Linden has given herself over to despair. She believes, utterly, that without Covenant she will fail . She can't do it herself; she needs him. Somehow, I don't think so. She has the strength to do what must be done; she has the wit a...
