Halfway through Iron Council . Wanted to say something about M John Harrison - In Viriconium was definately the best story in the collection, and A Young Man's Journey to Viriconium the hardest to understand. I was constantly at a loss while reading the book, but for some reason I liked them. I lik...

Finished Memory, Sorrow and Thorn book 1, The Dragonbone Chair. It had some good moments, but it is loooooongwinded. Williams seems to be aiming for big and epic and a coming of age story, but its a little too big and slow. The coming of age parts of the story work best so far, and that's what is k...

Erikson is far from complete but he does have 5 of his titles out (and 6 coming in February)- and they are all pretty large books, so there is a lot to catch up with - it's just utterly fascinating, and this is coming from someone who has been reading it for some years now, and I'm still not tired ...

Martin was heavily inspired by the real world history and politics and personalities of England's War of the Roses and the court intrigues of the early Tudors (particularly Henry 8 & his second Queen and his court). All of that ugliness and jockeying for power is inspired by just as much ugline...

Think you're a Star Wars fan? Check this out....

Cool, but uber-geeky at the same time... :D

This guy put all six Star Wars movies up on a screen at the same time and compared them to each other, with some interesting results.

I'd say I'm in the same camp as Roland. Variol Farseer: I can totally understand not liking the series. It's not for everyone and I respect your opinion more for being well-expressed and thoughtful. You've made some valid points. :D However, I'm of the opinion that the series wouldn't be as readable...

I loved those books when I was growing up. That brings back so many memories. I'd say my favorite one was probably "The Revenge of the Wizard's Ghost" (that was the one where Fergie and the Professor had to save Johnny from possession by Windrow's ghost, right?), but they were all good. I ...
