"While Loric's Krill burns, their might requires compliance"

Who else can that be but Sunder and Hollian??

I kind of wonder sometimes if by re-incorporating TC, Linden just CREATED the Theomach... I still think he's TC, or at least connected to him somehow.

Esmer is one of my favorite characters so don't think I'm hating on him... I just don't see redemption without death.

How can his essential contradiction be freed? Neither side will win and all he does is tear himself apart.

Can you think of any circumstance that ends well for him?

SRD mentioned that he isn't really interested in the Mystery aspect so much as using the Mystery medium to convey the characters. The Man Who Tried To Get Away says as much in its meta-analysis of itself, lol.

I don't think exposition is the issue. This isn't Robert Jordan for God's sake... Fatal Revenant is NOT book 8 of a 10 book series in so much as its book 2 of the 4 book Last Chronicles. Each of the Chronicles is a separate series; the fact that some of the characters continue from one to the other ...

SRD gets the alcoholism aspect down so well because (he implies in the GI) he himself had issues with it I think. He's made a few comments over time that indicate as such, like the fact that he gave up drinking completely, etc...

I think of it like an individual vs aggregate situation... changing history for one person/object is not a huge deal to the crux of time, but doing BIG things (killing Berek for instance) would affect lots of people/things and would be destructive to time.

It's the leitmotif that he is so fond of. It is specifically reminding us of what the theme is and how the scene fits into the larger body of the work. On that note... after finishing the gap a few years back and unable to find a good audio version of the Ring Cycle to downl... err, purchase... I pi...

Something I just realized... SRD mentioned in the GI recently that the Theomach returned to the ranks of the dead when Brinn defeated him. Silencing the dead to keep them from influencing Linden seems like something he would do.

Just a thought.

I recently got my brother to start in on the chronicles and he was PISSED when he got to the wounded land. Easily as angry as many people here are angry about the last chronicles. His exact words were "Where'd everyone go? All the villages are gone, the giants are gone, the haruchai are gone......

LF can't move through time for the same reason I can't swim through dirt the way little worms can... I was built too big for that world, whereas they were built specifically for it.

Remember that for SRD writing is orchestral. Maybe Wagner doesn't need a nearly-impossible-to-play trombone piece in Fafner's Leifmotif, but it fits the mood of what Fafner represents to the overall operatic movement.

SRD is the same way.

Soulbiter is right - when Nom shows up in WGW it's because SandGorgon's Doom still exists and so Nom can hear the summons; he chooses to come because TC spared his life.

Once the Doom is destroyed and Nom is dead, calling his name should be like dialing a disconnected number from a broken telephone.
