For instance, I notice you haven't attempted to address the most salient point of the article I cited above, which is that savings as defined under MMT -- that alleged economically indispensable part of currency holdings that requires the government to blow through cash like there's no tomorrow -- ...

Ron, If I was responsible for cleaning up every bit of misinformation on wikipedia I don't think I'd have time for much else! Regardless, I don't need to convince you. You will choose to believe whatever you want to believe and the monetary system will function as the monetary functions. Much like g...

To continue... Banks do increase economic activity through lending. Both Ron and Sindatur are correct to a certain extent but you are both talking past each other as Sindatur is speaking of the accounting behind the loans and Ron is looking at the effect on the economy. When a bank makes a loan to y...

Hashi, Ron, Fractional Reserve Banking and the money multiplier (Ron's graph above is a classic example of the supposed money multiplier whereby banks increase the money supply through fractional reserve banking) is a myth. It is stylized model that bears little resemblance to the real world. How do...

Something that MMT doesn't appear to consider is this: what if I take some of that fiat currency and I put it into a safe in a storage unit? That money has been taken out of the economy and, although technically part of S, the government can never recover that money via taxation because I will pay ...

The "Prometheus" story takes place on a different planet Cail. The ship in "Alien" is on a different moon. Maybe one of the Engineers from this moon escaped but was infected with a chestburster and crashed onto the planet in the original Alien. From an I09 link. Lindeloff answers...

mises.org/daily/5260/The-UpsideDown-World-of-MMT This is the fundamental problem with relying on macro-accounting tautologies; people often bring in causal arguments from economic theories without realizing they are doing so. One way to describe MMT is that is a "nominal" model of the eco...

No. I loved it as well. Thought the 3D was seamless instead of intrusive. Loved the open-ended questions. I am hoping we get some definitive answers from the sequel but I'm still contemplating certain scenes 5 days later. I want to see it again and look for clues to the questions that it leaves open!

Ron, It's much more complicated than that. You are assuming the neutrality of money which, at best, is still a contested theory. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that the money supply can have effects on the real economy. These views are informed by MMT but also by many other post-Keynesian sc...

If so, that is still a case of Chinese currency putting money into the United States and expecting a future payout. Hashi, this isn't correct. The only way for China to buy US treasuries is to purchase them with US Dollars. We don't sell treasuries for foreign currencies. In other words, the only w...

For what it's worth, I thought the post was confusing as well and I do understand MMT!

No offense Vraith, but it's hard to follow your train of thought there.
