LOL Danlo you're very funny.Wouldn't he have to sit at the kiddie table with Tad Williams and David Brin's smugness?

Which author am I?
A few years ago, I took a quiz like this, or maybe this one, and I came out as Walter Jon Williams. ATT, I almost confused that result as saying I was "Jack Williamson". ATT, the Tor Editor Theresa Neilson-Hayden tried to answer the quiz as a another author. When she answered as David Brin...

The Prestige
The Prestige , good, good movie. Jackman playing a sort of secret identity role, and Christian Bale playing a twist in the plot role. (saying more would be spoilery) Both very good. Did anyone else think Scarlett Johnhansen looked a lot like Billie Piper in the movie? It turned out to be a psycholo...

Illusionist
The Illusionist , good movie, not a really great flick. Suffers through some weak narrative. Could someone, please tell me what kind of accent were the actors trying to make me believe they had? As a poinit of comparison, consider Kendra's accent from BtVS, for the unidentifable accent circumstance.

Book question
For a friend got a book question. The book's main character is a linguist and might be dead as part of the book's plot. Sorry this is so sketchy! The questioner is sure the answer is not Job.

REply to Sindatur
Sindatur, thanks for your reply and comments. I agree with everything, except the conclusion of Rose's character arc; IMO, it's an authorial copout by RTD (he had a chance to do something amazing and instead we go something mundane). I especially agree with your commenting on the similarity between ...

Amazon reviews
Bujold's books seem to get their fair share of Amazon reviews. I do not care much about the actual reviews in Amazon; FWIW, I think I know what's better than average and I definitely know what I like and LMB passes both those criteria. However, it does interest me that Bujold seems to get some extre...

Mountains of Mourning
My friend, Maureen, in California is a huge Bujold fan. In her opinion, Mountains of Mourning is the distilled expression of Barrayaran culture and society. IOW, if you understand the story and its conflicts and resolutions, then one will understand Barrayar.

My $0.02
On Ahiras Hangar we had a short discussion of Premier's list in August 2005.
If one reviews the actual list, one would find that the individual entries actual have shortish explanations for their inclusion and a rebuttaal to each inclusion, BUT the list is just an opinion survey.

Doomsday shown in the US on Dec. 23, 2006
A whole lot of the following can be found on Ahiras Hangar Manifold OK, ya'all know I'm a Dr. Who fan, too, and I somtimes attend a local group that is solely dedicated to the adventures of Chroniicles of Who. In general my feelings about the new Who series are very positive, I have slight preferenc...

Lost Room , liked quite a bit; BTW, next Saturday Dec 16 SciFi cable is marathoning all three parts in one sitting. Plot holes well yeah, for one why does killing the Occupant give Joe Miller occupant powers, and do the other objects still retain their powers? No do not make this a permanent series...

Myers-Briggs typology
Hoping I'm not reviving a real dead horse of a topic. Whatever... However, my years of interest in Myers Briggs typology compels me to clarify some issues. E to I continuity is not necessarily a measure of shyness to outgoingness, the continuity is mainly a measure of of ones energies and how one mi...

Mountains of Mourning and stuff about Beta
Mountains of Mourning , finished it earlier this evening. What an incredibly sad , sad story! In the fixup Young Miles , it is placed physically between WA and VG. It wiped me out physically and do not think I'll be reading anything for at least a day or so. Duchess, I'm quite sure I do not agree a...

Romeo, regarding your first spoiler, OMG. Absolutely those scenes have that sub-text, but if that's the actual plot, my head will explode. I picked up the subtext immediately when watching the scenes, but to see or hear someone actually say it, *pop* I think my brains just poped out my ear. Sindatur...

To night's episode Unfinished Business
Regarding tonight's epiosode Unfinished Business , I was probably the only person on Earth not spoiled about what happened between Lee and Kara on New Caprica and to me it came as a huge shock and a little bit of an oh that explains loads of stuff . So let's hear for staying non-spoiled, cause being...
