I fall into the negative zone on this one, I guess, in as much as I'm a bit disappointed with this book. I felt that it lurched between chapter-long conversations and frenetic action without the transition periods that let us come to know and love the characters in previous books, "She" is...

I'm sure they're different.

In the first chapter Covenant remembers the Despiser considering the Insequent and dismissing them before he moved on to a remote region to work over the Demimages.

That sounds like they're distinct peoples to me.

For the London meet, I suggest we gather at Victoria station...handy for CJ and as no-one is coming in from a northerly direction we may as well make it so.

See you all tomorrow...all 3 of you

It's that or Leicester Square, they're about equidistant. So we can head for there if it'd help ;)

The signing itself is from 1 to 2 from what I remember, so I reckon we want to meet up around mid-day. My suggestion would be to gather somewhere accessible and handy for transport - maybe a bar or coffeshop at one of the major stations - and head over to Tottenham Court Road from there.

On the other hand...Berkshire is just up the road for me, so depending on where you're going to be that may make a southern meet more possible. :)

I wasn't at all fond of Blair - in my opinion he systematically eroded much that was good about Britain in his ten years in power - and I'm afraid Brown will turn out the same. heard on NPR today that he's offered to give up certain executive powers and has suggested an actual written constitution a...

That works for me...so some kind of Octoberfest then? :) Actually FR is out the day before my birthday so it's a no-brainer what my present to myself will be this year
Hey Gart. Nice to see you around man.

You may struggle a little bit with some people...CJ is in Wales just now and I think Rev is in the US for the summer. But I'll see what I can do if you name a date. :)

I would say that this is at least one fairly good definition of evil: I think they were just men who saw their goals as being more important than the lives of countless millions. Men with an unshakeable faith in their own opinion who were willing to impose it by force. In my opinion "evil"...

I'm with Loremaster on this one: Communism simply goes too much against basic human nature to have a chance of working efficiently. It's a lovely idea, everyone working together for the common good...but people aren't motivated by the common good by and large, they're motivated by their own good. So...

Coming back to the original point though: There are lot of things about the very early civilizations that I'd like to know as well. For example, a few years back the BBC ran a program about what the world would have been like during the last ice age, with drastically lower sea levels, and then menti...

Finally able to comment on this :D The axe murderer thing didn't come up; Chrysalis, CJ and I have met a few times now so I know they're ok. And I've always forgotten to bring my axe  I should also point out that Darth didn't win at pool because he's good; he won because I'm even worse than he...

I'll come for the beerfest...my blurry recollections of last year are that it was quite a laugh. Apart from the music, which was ghastly.

Try doing that in Saudi Arabia, or even England or Canada and see what the reception is. In England: Much the same as it is in the US, from what I can see. Same pressure of illegals trying to get in, same belief in their entitlement to unearned services, same half-heartedness by the government in d...

A bit off topic, but this merits a repsonse: gart : get out of Ireland and they wouldn't be attacking you. I could point out (again) that Eire became largely independent in the early 1920s, but it's easier to summarise the current situation as: They did and we did, more or less. I do have to ask tho...

And from a Brit: Why are Watch members from other countries complaining about the U.S.'s role in this? I'm not complaining; on this issue I'm agreeing that a hard line has to be taken...and, at a very last resort, a military one. Maybe if YOUR countries would do something about the problem of global...

A rare pleasure to see you in the 'Tank Gart. Thanks...I do wander by from time to time :) So you'd be in favour of America attacking and subsequently invading Iran in order to prevent them from ever having nukes? "In favour" is not how I'd put it. I would far rather the situation is reso...

I'd hate to see this happen. But I think it may...and I have to be honest, an Iran with nukes is not something I'd rest easy with. How long before a bomb found its way into terrorist hands? I agree: This one is going to get messy.
