I have read that book. As well as Neverwhere and Stardust, also by Neil Gaman. And Good Omens, by Neil Gaman and Terry Pratchett.

I liked it, but I liked the two others better. American Gods seemed a little unfinished. It somehow did not live up to its own promises.

You really should start with the first book in the series. It is called the Curse of the Mistwraith. I do not know if I have actually managed to read the Grand Conspiracy yet, but hopefully I will soon.

Hmm, nice choice! I could go for LOTR, but that would be too ... predictable, I suppose is the word I'm looking for. So, instead I'll opt for Feist's Riftwar Saga and the follow-ups. I just wanted to say that in my opinion Feist is quite good, but I think that A Darkness at Sethanon was a bit...muc...

I might have mentioned some of these before but still: The Chronicles of Amber; Roger Zelazny (first five) The Witches of Wenshar; Barbara Hambly The Chronicles of Alvin Maker; Orson Scott Card The Curse of Chalion; Lois McMasters Bujold Nobody's Son; Sean Stewart Mairelon the Magician; Patricia Wre...

Having read the four books titled "The man who...." I feel entitled to write a short piece about them. Let me start right away by saying the SRD is not among the greatest mystery writers. Actually the most mysterious thing about some of the books is how the main character can actually avoi...

As short apropos I see that "Tales from Earthsea" has won the Endeavour award. And one of the stories in it was nominated for the Hugo. (The story is called the bones of the Earth and is about Ogion, Sparrowhawks teacher if you remember him.) The Other Wind has won the 2002 World Fantasy A...

I have a british edition of Gilden-fire. It has the aforementioned foreword and some illustrations. (Revelstone, and some of the bloodguard fighting) I was particularly intrigued by the foreword stating that the original version of TEW was 916 pages long, and that SRD had to cut 250 pages from it to...

yes, the Bilbo's party is nice and funny, but the Narn-i-Hín-Húrin is one of the most depressing stories ever written what a movie it would make Now, I am not an expert on these matters, but if what I think is right the story as it appears from the source has already been made into an opera. The ex...

What an unfettered should study? That is an easy one. :?

I would study history, or maybe even more importantly archeology. There is a lot of places in the Land that just cries out for a thorough study.

The Mordant books I confess I didn't really care for, but when the Gap Cycle hit, you better believe it I was right there buying each one up as it came out. In many ways I consider it Donaldson's crown, vs Covenant merely his throne. So you did not care for the Mordant books? I actually found them ...

I have to admit that I do not get more than the absolutely most famous of these opening lines. I do not really pay much attention to opening lines, mostly because I had to read all the way to "The Celebration of Spring" before Lord Foul's Bane became impossible to put down. Based on this I...

Well, this is an old discussion but since I am new I will post a little list of my own. Now my favourite author is Stephen Donaldson, but this is more a matter of choice. He is definitely not my choice of reading for all occasions. Quite the contrary. But I also have a good opinion of these followin...

I remember being really disappointed by Tehanu when I read it. Possibly because I had such high hopes for the book. Now that I have read "Tales from Earthsea" and "The Other Wind" I am seriously considering going back to Tehanu and rereading it to see if it is as bad as I origina...

Greetings everybody. I just found this site when surfing for some Stephen Donaldson sites and decided to try logging on here and making a new identity. As you can probably understand from my name and signature I am a great fan of SRD's shorter work as well as of the Chronicles. This is mostly becaus...

I have only read the first book in a Game of Thrones by G. R. R. Martin, but they are supposed to be a very good fantasy book series. Now I, however, do not see any similarities between the way the Regals are described in Daughter of Regals and the way the relationship between dragons and humans are...
