Since I am unfamiliar, I will just got straight through the 10 main and pick up the side books after. I figure I will start making some real progress this week and weekend. I had a few projects I had to get done and that has impacted my reading time.

You guys left a mess in here!
I created a new thread for my read through book 1. I didn't want to just add to the current thread so that I don't see spoilers of things I haven't read yet. I will be adding future responses to book 1 there.

Chapters 1 and 2 . Dead bodies of civilians and soldiers. Horribly mutilated along with the horses. Some sorcery where a lady somehow passed herself to a young girl. More where a sorcerer is using it to travel. Another where a guy is only part of a body but doesn't seem worried. Hmmmm So far I am in...

I finally decided to embrace my vinyl collection more. I went out and bought a new turntable with pre-amp. Its a Fluance RT81+ Elite. I have to say it was pretty easy to set up and get going. Much better than the Victrola 6 in 1 with the ceramic needle, and much better for my records. As I started p...

Looks like a party went on and I walked in after everyone left. LOL Starting Gardens of the Moon: Book One of The Malazan Book of the Fallen this weekend. Better late than never. I wont be going into the threads here to comment right away, and only as appropriate as I finish books. I don't want to s...

What fantasy/science fiction book are you reading RIGHT NOW?
Indeed - away to the Malazan designated threads for me, with the (generally ;) ) high level endorsements ringing in my ears. You know, I havent read any of the Malazan at all. I have two others to finish, but hey I am retiring in May... I should have plenty of time to start a new series. It is time...

Oscar's 2024
I did watch Oppenheimer and it was excellent. Mainly because I was interested in the story line. Robert Downey Jr was almost unrecognizable in is role and not in a bad way.
But I dont watch the Oscars, Grammy's, etc etc etc.. No interest at all.

What fantasy/science fiction book are you reading RIGHT NOW?
Ive been reading the Cradle series by Will Wight. I am currently on book 10 (Reaper) and there are two more out (Dreadgod and Waybound) in this series that I will read before starting anything new. This series is nothing "high brow". I almost didn't pick it back up after reading the first ...

2023. A Duff Year For Films
There were a couple of movies I watched this last year that I thought were excellent. Jesus Revolution - Yeah I know its more for Christians. But the story telling was excellent and the acting was excellent. Sound of Freedom - Loved it as well. Points out how human slavery and child exploitation sti...

DeForest Kelley as Dr McCoy City on the Edge of Forever
Loved this episode and its one that comes to mind when people ask what your fav episode of Trek is. CCOY: You deliberately stopped me, Jim. I could have saved her. Do you know what you just did? SPOCK: He knows, Doctor. He knows. Kelly shares the tragic scene with Shatner and portrays McCoy's shock ...

Age Group Poll, as 2023 ends…
Thanks StevieG! Just make sure you do all the math prior to hitting that switch. How much will you get from retirement accounts/investments, when to take SS (62,65,67, or 70), ACA (and the cliff) and healthcare, taxes, and RMDs, and Sequence of returns risk. I have it all in spreadsheets so I can se...

So hows the weather?
Single digits here in Ohio for the most part. A balmy 27 today after starting at 3 degrees this morning. 30 tomorrow followed the next day to a retreat to colder weather and snow. Typical Ohio winters.
