Richard turns to Paula and Bela. "I might go for a walk and explore some of the city. Do either of you want to come along?"

Yep, I'm here :D

I must say I'm really enjoying it so far - I know you and Caam and Murrin are all old hands at this, so you probably have something to compare it to. Some of those archived games look quite epic. But I do enjoy waking up every morning to see what has happened!

After witnessing the exchange with the guards, Richard jumps back in the carriage, and starts taking in the surroundings. He starts to observe the general day-to-day activities of people in this city as the carriages make their way to the foreign quarter.

Well, here we are. Richard had studied the map briefly - the one Rum had shown them, and noted the Great Bank's proximity to Temple and the Hall. As is always the case, the map just doesn't give an appreciation of the scale of the real city, at least from this vantage point. This will indeed be an ...

"I tend to agree with the Fox . Not our problem. "However, *if* we went back there, we have to overpower those two quickly, and preferably quietly. Paula would need to distract the big guy, Jed, and I'd take that young punk while the Fox would take Jed. We'd have to immobilise them,"...

"They're crooks who didn't manage to extract any money from us. That makes them unhappy, but at least they get a chance to rip the next travellers off. Either that, or they're the ugliest, most incompetent group of *legitimate* guards in history. If I were to guess, I would say that the real g...

Richard had grown up around these types of people. They were most certainly not real guards. Back in Pentam, the young man would be dead in a second, and the older one would know better than to pursue. Richard hadn't experienced a *professional charmer* such as Paula Ridgeway. People like her just ...

Richard fixes his dark eyes directly on this young man, and squares his posture. He's a kid, and he looks out of place. "Do you really want me or my friend to go back and ask if he will pay 60 Jovian Silver to pass? He is a dangerous man. But he's not who you should worry about - I am even mor...

At Rum's request, Richard prepares himself as he would for any job. His awareness heightens, and he scans the cart and its surroundings for potential dangers. Gin follows him as he strolls casually toward the man, who appears to be guarding the bridge. Richard holds one hand near his concealed knif...

Richard was intimately familiar with loss and pain, so much so that he hardly noticed it any more. He was aware that Paula was a widow, but the loss of the baby tugged at something he hadn't felt in a long time.

"I'm... sorry" he said awkwardly.

It's not something that Richard would naturally do, but maybe giving some information about why we're here isn't such a bad idea. Bela's explanation sounded more like psychosis than revelation, but then again, people's reasons weren't the most important issue - the fact that they share their reason...

Richard glanced around to see Paula walking alongside the cart also. She seemed lost in thought, and in some distress. He also noticed what appeared to be a concerted effort to shake off that distress. In the ensuing silence, Richard recalled a question that Bela had asked - whether it was his usua...

Despite his cautious nature, Richard had started to feel more and more comfortable in the last few days - he felt like he was slowly acquiring more of an understanding of his fellow travellers. Bela Gin was surprisingly less of a stranger to Richard's way of life than he first thought. Bela spoke a...

Richard Slade carries some money on him, as well a concealed dagger, amongst a couple of other items. His valise contains most of his life savings, which he assumes is a trifle for the likes of Bela Gin, and Paula Ridgeway for that matter - she looks well off to Richard. It also contains everything ...

Bela Gin is certainly acting the way Richard expects. That's fine, Richard is not one to be the centre of attention - if Bela wants to take it all, so much the better. He leaves Paula to respond to Bela's jest. "I'll take a hammock" he murmurs, and carries his small cloth bag over his sho...

Richard Slade took in his surroundings, as he always did when preparing for a job, or preparing for a walk (or preparing for anything that involved other people). He had grown accustomed to surveying potential dangers in any situation. He wore a dark overcoat, ideal for concealment of anything that...
