I'm not a voracious fantasy reader like many here seem to be. I read a lot of books, but truth be told most are non-fiction. I am invested in only five fantasy series right now: 1) A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. Is this series even still a thing? I don't watch the television show. I...

It also doesn't mean a movie is NOT in the works! I'm afraid it does. They wouldn't be trying to make it more enticing to potential buyers if it was already sold or even if there was serious curiosity. I hope you guys have seen the Movie News thread and have read about the rise and fall of th...

IIRC, his publishers asked him to produce a treatment , which isn't really a screenplay, more like a flavor for what a screenplay could be. How the story could be told in the cinematic format. Presumably so that they could more easily sell the movie rights. I am sure other authors have been request...

Re: Ben-Hur 2016
But the run time would be up to to one and half-hour long for each segment. And a 2 year run with ~24 segments for the first 3 books. Watched the Ben-Hur (2016) film last night. It was curious seeing how the story ran to 125 minutes, as to the original 1959 film running at 212 minutes. Having Judah...

The paranoid narcissist is doing a hell of a job. Maybe those qualities make for a good executive. It takes a hell of an ego to think--or to know--that you are the most qualified person to be the most powerful man on the planet. Merely aspiring to that office might require characteristics that the ...

Oh yeah forget Carson .. he might have been an awesome surgeon but I think hed be worse than Trump .. hes clueless and out of touch. A very intelligent man who hasa lot of deep thoughts on all sorts of issues, but he is very bad at public speaking and getting his point across. He's much better behi...

Condi Rice is a Bush loyalist and so would never be acceptable to the Trumpian forces in control of today's GOP. For black Republican possibilities look no further than Dr. Ben Carson, who is (oddly) still acceptable to both the Bush/Rubio and Trump/Pence wings of the party. A testament to the man's...

Should I read any Esslemont? If so, which books?
I have only read the "main" Erikson books. Never any Ian Esselmont. I was very disappointed in some of the choices made in the last two books, and never bothered any more with the shared universe. I am not one of the people who thinks Korbal Broach and the other loser that hangs around wit...

I liked the Talisman, but Black House was bad. --A So many things wrong with that book. Where does one begin to explain them?! The Talisman is one of my fave King books, I read it right after reading Eyes of the Dragon, those were my first 2 King books. So when I bought the hardcover of Black House...

Hmmm, haven't read those, will keep them in mind. Preferred G.A.S.S (I used to go to a nightclub called that funnily enough) to Everville on the whole, but read them many years apart so might feel differently if I re-read them consecutively. Didn't know about Scarlet Gospels...see it features Harry...

I was really annoyed by King ret-conning The Gunslinger. It just felt so wrong...like cheating. --A Another great example! Well, let's be constructive a minute. As an artist, you've worked several decades, and you look back at your earlier work and think it wasn't very good compared to what you cou...
