I was never a fan of Kyle Rayner (I'm a Guy Gardner..er...guy), and Major Force was a joke-type character over in the pages of Captain Atom. But shit got real in a hurry in that GL storyline!

As for the Illearth Stone, I like to imagine it was originally a perfect emerald lodestone. Lost during the first Ritual of Desecration. So when Foul found the Stone his jealousy knew no bounds. Channeling all his hatred he corrupted the very heart of the stone - a weapon against all green things g...

Me too.

Kevin J. Anderson's Star Wars stuff was terrible, and his Dune books are a travesty.

Ian Esslemont is the Doiby Dickles to Erikson's Green Lantern.

Guillermo not Benicio! Right, thanks for the correction.

I'm not a big fan of Peter Jackson.

Personally, I recommend reading Esselmont's Night of Knives first for background.

It's a prequel anyway.

I can't believe you like both Erikson and *choke* Kevin J. Anderson.

In my mind.....years ago...the talk about having LOTR be made into a movie...was considered impossible. Peter King finally brought it to life....evn though diehards are still dismayed that so much was left out....he still seemed to capture quite a bit. So, TCTU might be made...especially with the s...

It's weird how "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" is awful but "The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul" is fantastic.

If this book one is the Real Story of this series ... simple, direct, and concise, but laying a foundation for complexity and profound wonder ... then it accomplishes this task well. Of course it's the Real Story of this series! I expect the next volume to be 700 pages at least. :D I read Seventh D...

I don't think he really dropped the ball until the last book, and it's good in parts. Others here will disagree (looking at you, Av), but I like book 6 and especially 5. I can't endorse books 6, 5, and even 4 when compared to books 2 and 3. They almost seem like entries from a different series. Pac...

Ok - I'm sold; not by the film but by you guys commenting amongst yourselves. I have too much respect for all of your opinions not to realise that there has to be something in the books to generate such depth of feeling. I'll take up the series again. :D You will get caught up in these books, you w...

My local bookstore had a display of Seventh Decimate as well. That surprised me, in a good way.

I really liked the first trilogy and Time/Test of the Twins (which inspired one of my favorite fantasy metal songs ). It was around Dragons of Summer Flame and The Second Generation that I started losing interest, because it felt like they were trying to do the same thing over again, only with less...

Devoted SRD fan that I am, Chr-stmas doesn't feel like a time I'd want to open a new book of his. The themes he uses and the vibe he creates seem dissonant with the prevailing spirit of the season. Also, one is expected to at least pretend to be social at that time...and with a new SRD book beckoni...
