Heh, I'm beginning to feel like a Horrim stalker here. But I'm just a guy with a lot of knowledge of the Chrons. Hey, stalk away. I love discussing this stuff! Amok addressed this very point you make when he stated that if someone were to Command the Stone's destruction, perhaps its uncontained evi...

...just got to the end of my reread of illearth war. i know everyone says she was crazy, but i think im in love. Elena is/was unbalanced but cool. One really stupid mistake with the Earthblood. There were 10,000 other Commands she could have given that would have been far superior. How about Comman...

Is Toy Story 3 really better than 2? I'm so used to the pattern of good first film, great second film, mediocre/terrible third film that I'd be surprised. It really is. I was surprised 2 was better than 1, and I was even more surprised at how good 3 was. I put it just a shade ahead of 2. By the way...

Covenant was unable to kill Kasreyn of the Gyre because of the chair-of-many-golden-hoops, but required Findail's services to complete the task. Untrue. He was more than ready to call up enough power to crispify K and his idiotic chair. It was Findail who claimed that he might damage the arch. Let'...

I loved it as well. Frankly I'm not seeing the problems with pacing some others are mentioning.

Parts of WGW were slower paced than AATE.

I love the way the story is heading. Can't wait to see the confrontation with that Worm! :P

You should probably opt for a re-read of TOT, at least the chapter you're referring to. Because when it came down to it, Covenant was clueless as to Kasreyn. Are you being purposefully obtuse? *sigh* okay. I'm going to go dig out my copy of TOT. Hang on. Beginning on page 337 of my copy. Covenant p...

True Grit is right up there with Unforgiven in the western genre. Maybe a hair below. I'll have to see it again.

Definitely a great movie and much better than I was expecting going in.

As I've said elsewehre, to me Tron: Legacy is Batman Begins. The next one should be The Dark Knight.

I've enjoyed lots of films that were panned. Yeah, I know what you mean. I liked "The Last Airbender". Bought the DVD actually. "Skyline" was horrible. "Toy Story 3" was the best of the 3 (actually, they go in ascending order for goodness). I liked Inception, Scott Pil...

Re: Map of the Earth?

You can't nail down the position of the Soulbiter. It has been found in different places by the Giants. Hmm... Well at least we know that beyond the Westron mountains lies the land of the Insequent. Has there been any hint that an ocean separates this land from the Land? My recollection is a bit ha...

I remember reading that in the GI.

But still, "in-book" there has to be an explanation for the name "Lord Foul". We can't just say he's named that because the author was using archetypical themes. :D

So..."in-world" my speculations remain as stated above.

Sorry, but Covenant did not defeat Kasreyn by himself. uh yeah, I know that. But the people with Covenant don't know that. He didn't come down from the tower and explain what happened, that I recall. So to them, he just said "I'll take care of Kasreyn" (paraphrasing) and then went up ther...

I enjoyed Dawn Treader a lot more than the lackluster Prince Caspian.

The first movie was the best in the series, though.

btw...Disney bailed after Caspian underperformed. Dawn Treader was made without any involvement from the House of Mouse.

Also, the Elohim are ineffectual against Foul. As far as I know, all Earthpowerful beings are ineffectual against Foul.

This includes the Staff of Law, the Worm itself, the Elohim, the Old Lords, and even the Power of Command. None of it works on LF.

Re: Map of the Earth?

There's just not enough geographic detail given in the books. I don't see how anybody could make a world map without adding a lot of imaginary details. Hmmm..well we know the Haruchai and the Insequent come from the west - west of the Land - right? And the Isle of the One Tree (and hence the gaddhi...

Re: Map of the Earth?

No, but there is an excellent Land map. I'm a bit disappointed! Somone with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Chrons plus some artistic talent should attempt to create one. I'm also a huge Erikson fan and it's great to see fan-created world maps to fill in the gaps the "official" maps don'...
