Of course it took place in Kiril Threndor. That's why the Staff was found under the mountain by Drool.

The war within was published in paperback here in the UK yesterday. I've now bought a copy in hardback and paperback and on kindle. Obviously I love the story and am looking forward to the concluding volume. Very sad to hear about the decline in sales. Mr Donaldson deserves better imvho. I am enjoy...

I'm reading The Belgariad again - haven't picked it up since it was published, just started the first one last night, will probably hate the series but it was pretty much my first Fantasy (that along with some Piers Anthony) and I loved it back then. Yikes! The Belgariad, that takes me back. And th...

I'll take that as a no. :D I like them. They're easier reads than Erikson, but the continuity is good enough that the world remains as believable, and they fill in a lot of the blanks before, between, and after, the main dekology. --A I know what you're saying, but can you imagine if SRD had an aco...

I've only read one Malazon, but it seemed like old school D&D/Dragonlance fanfic to me. I've got to put it back on my to read list. I was skeptical when I started Gardens of the Moon, I picked it up because SRD raved about it, actually. By the time I got to Toll The Hounds I thought the series ...

GOT is pretty established as a classic mostly due to its huge popularity Popular doesn't equal classic. I stand by what I said. A Song of Ice and Fire is a dumbed-down Malazan Book of the Fallen. And I'm not even a massive Erikson fan. I just think Erikson does everything Martin does, only better. ...

People are still talking GoT? The books are okay. Nothing special. They're like a dumbed-down version of Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. The tv show was okay as well. It went downhill long before the final season. The final season was just bad. Let's move on. In a few years no one will remembe...

Regarding King: worst book is undeniably "Cell". It's just flat-out bad. I just saw this and thought of one that the town is magically walled off and in the end it's alien kids playing "burn the ant" kinda games? That ones fucking ludawfulicrous. Under the Dome. Yes, it's bad. E...

First, OMG, if you haven't read Riddlemaster, go read it right now. Second, that wasn't a spoiler, because frankly I have no idea how anyone can think that. But I won't argue the point here. I will! Ghisteslwchlohm was set up as the big bad, was he not? And in the end, he turned out to be just a re...

Prince Lestat , most recent of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I sorta lost interest in these around "Pandora" (with the exception of Blood and Gold), but I'm quite enjoying it actually. --A I've been a fan of the latest books. Prince Lestat and The Realms of Atlantis. I literally couldn'...

Regarding King: I liked Dr. Sleep. Cujo isn't great. Tommyknockers is obviously the product of an alcohol-fueled binge (he has admitted this). But King's worst book is undeniably "Cell". It's just flat-out bad. Regarding Gaiman: I liked Sandman (esp "Season of Mists"), and I like...

I enjoyed it! A lot of fun. Many good things about it. Good characters. A couple of good twists. My favorite thing was Suri reading signs. Very well done. Now I need the other books to be Daily Deals. I just picked up Age of War as a Christmas present for myself. I put it away until then. :D

I recently bought the first of that Sullivan series. It was one of the Kindle daily deals. I might give it a go soon. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it if you do. I enjoyed book 1 and book 2, I like when an author can take very old and cliched fantasy tropes and somehow make them fresh. Sullivan...
