Just my opinion, but SRD's words rarely have the literal, obvious meaning. "You are the white gold" doesn't mean that Covenant is literally the ring, and the magic comes from inside him. "He and I are one" doesn't mean that Lord Foul and Thomas Covenant are one and the same being...
