I have known a number of people who found LFB a slow starter but percevered to their eventual satisfaction. Me, I was hooked from page 1 and thought it was the attention to detail that was put into this part of the series that made the whole of The Land and its people such a rich and believable (no ...

I think in Covenants case I would have used the Power in order to try to undo the harm I had done to Lena and her family (I know Covenant had tried to make reparation with the Ranhyin but this had clearly failed). I think the Kevin summoning idea was the bad idea to top all bad ideas - as indeed it ...

For me, High Lord Kevin has always been a larger than life figure. A huge man, full of both power and sadness, knowledge and pain - but with a capacity for compassion beyond any others, before or after. All this would be visible in his craggy bearded face and would be enough to inspire both awe and ...

Trells despair had gone beyond the point of forgivness and redemption. It had reached that point where, akin to sunlight focused through a lens it had become every thing that he was, is, or ever would be. That was why he was able to enact the ritual of dessecration - he had become Fouls servant in a...

A bit of a digression from your question, but I have seen lots of different cover artworks for the books over the years and the ones that always do it for me best are still the original UK paperback covers. TC ic never depicted on them and the circular inset pictures always seem to get 'the feel' of...

How was it for you.....
I bet this is a pretty hackneyed theme but which one of us does not go all warm and gooey when we think of how we found our first Covenant book (hopefully LFB) and what it was like when we opened the very first page for the very first time. Here's my story. I was 19y.o.when I found Lord Fouls Bane i...

Found the site via a link from the SRD entry on Wikipedia and really happy that I did! Still a real 'newbie' and having lots of fun just exploring the site and seeing whats here to do. I am so pleased that there are people just as crazy about the Land as I am! After half a life searching I never exp...

Not sure if the Ramen would have been found so far from the Plains of Ra (in the direction of the Watch at least) at the time of Winhome Gay etc. so would also go with Lena (or a young Elena given the blue robe......Heck, I don't know but I like it/them very much and wish I could do stuff like that!).

Haruchai questions
Odd sort of question really, but I can't help wondering how different people visualise 'The Haruchai' in thier minds eye as they are reading. I know Donaldson describes them as sort of flat faced, impassive, expressionless and dark skinned, but this really tells us very little. Are they essentially h...

Sorry - forgot to answer the main question! Vain bared his teth in his version of 'grinning like a wolf' at the fact that 1) covenant had been forced to ask him for help - even in the face of constantly declaring his mistrust of him and 2) with the pleasure that any cruel individual gets at finally ...

I think most of these replys sem to be missing the point. If I am correct you have read all of the previous novels before. If this is the case then a jump forward to reading 'the runes' will not cause the slightest problem as any references to 'what has gone before' will be easily intelligable to yo...
