Black Flag is still my favorite AC game, and IIRC the last one that didn't have enemy levels. So to get around the tough spots you didn't grind your numbers, you had to actually learn to use Edward's tools and weapons more effectively. I should replay that sometime, see how it looks on my 4k screen...

Interesting books, fun to read, at times they felt like torture porn (there's one in particular where I remember thinking that they should just let the poor guy take a nap). EXTRA SERIOUS SPOILER WARNING: THIS IS ABOUT THE END OF THE ENTIRE SERIES, DO NOT READ MY COMMENT IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED IT Y...

The wheels on the EV go round and round...

So I was speaking with a co-worker today who asked why we can't just put alternators on the wheels of EVs to get free energy back, and I spent 30 minutes trying to convince him there's no such thing as free energy before giving up. But then I got curious about the math. A Nissan Leaf gets ~100MPGe. ...

Girl on the Train was good but a touch more melodrama than I prefer. The literary version of a Lifetime movie :D I picked up My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She's Sorry , about a 7 year old girl and her 77 year old grandmother, and I'm loving it so far. There are two major plot points I saw com...

Currently reading A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court , by Mark Twain. Oh hey, I read that years back, and really enjoyed it. I'm about halfway through The Girl on the Train and expect to finish it tomorrow. It's... rough. Horror stories like Stephen King writes are one thing, but horror li...

You forgot that the rich guy was bald, Hashi. As for the style, should it be termed neo-noir? Futuristic retro? I just finished the movie and it was everything I was afraid of. Absolutely beautiful style, but Lisa Joy confuses plot for story, and thinks "things are happening" is the same a...

Has anybody tried watching Reminiscence? It's directed by Lisa Joy, and I'm not really a fan of what she did with Westworld (started strong, but then got bogged down by trying to be too clever rather than just telling a good story).

Peter, have you tried Kurosawa mode? I turned it on a few times, but I'm mostly leaving it off - I plan on doing a NG+ run when I finish entirely in KM, with Japanese dialogue and English subtitles.

Oh, that one. It's a mobile game (iOS and Android) called Fleet Command - that's probably why you couldn't find it.

Basically, Clash of Clans re-skinned for Star Trek. I tried it a day or two and dropped it, as that isn't my style.

Funny ad though.

I've the week off so I went to Oregon for a few days to see my parents, then picked this up when I came back.

This game is incredible.

I'll write more later, but I need to get back to petting wild foxes and composing haikus.

Purchased this a month or so back. I'm somewhere in chapter three I think. I understand there's a market for Scorcese-style "Angry man hurts people" storytelling, but that market is not me. Having missions you go on where they give you options of how to treat people, but then force you int...

Doom Patrol

Did I just miss the thread for this? How is no one talking about it yet? After seeing J M Straczynski mention he likes this show I watched both seasons and absolutely loved it; can't wait for the third season (next month, I think?). These characters deal with issues that you can't punch your way out...

It's an interesting enough premise that I'm thinking of picking up the comics to finish the story, but... eh. Most comics disappoint me. I read the comics (my local library had the collected volumes) and they did, in fact, disappoint me. The show was doing much better with the same premise and ideas.

The entire time I was watching it I was thinking to myself, "WTF?!?!?"

My initial reaction was "I don't know if I liked it, but I'll definitely remember it."

Having had more time to reflect... I liked it!

The Last of Us

Finally grabbed a PlayStation earlier this year so I could work through the exclusives, and I just finished The Last of Us last week. Gotta say... It's going to be hard for the TV show not to be better than the game. It's a mediocre stealth game with mediocre 3rd person shooting and atrocious 3d pla...

That way I'm not a hypocrite in making fun of them.
They're remarkably fun in the way that bad movies such as Sharknado are fun! Too bad that didn't translate to the movies.
