Color me surprised.

It's a complete novel on its own, and very satisfying. The other coming novels are other characters' adventures and such. Go for it :D

Finishing up my re-read of the Hitchhikers series, and I'm in Mostly Harmless.

I always thought this one wasn't as funny as the others, and on my re-read, I still think so. It's more... Depressing? Hopeless?

More or less tracks with the original movie, just a bit more verbose.

I can't believe I just let Stephen King spend 1,200 pages convincing me that life is meaningless and futile and that, even if I do "make my stand(tm)," it's all pointless anyway and doesn't change a thing. Buckle up, boys and girls. Heavy spoilers follow. The good: There's some great chara...

Despite having done quite a lot of them over the years, this kinda build is still nerve-wracking to me. Always terrified I'm going to fry shit and waste all that money. :D Modern equipment is surprisingly resilient. Don't connect all the power cords. Don't put a fan on the CPU. Don't plug the RAM i...

I'm more than halfway through The Stand , and can understand why some people complain that it's too long. There are some excellent chapters... And some that just aren't. And then I hit a stretch of excellence that has lasted 150+ pages with no end in sight :D I've seen books that take 50-100 pages,...

I enjoyed both the Rothfuss books (though I didn't care for Slow Regard of Needful Things , which is kind of a side-story novella). I'm more than halfway through The Stand , and can understand why some people complain that it's too long. There are some excellent chapters... And some that just aren't...

Season 2 was disappointing. Not only a disappointing villain, but a disappointing threat. I'm just not interested in "save the world" narratives. Fire Lord Ozai was actually a political threat more than anything else, waging war on the other nations. Korra went all in on "Ultimate evi...

I just watched season 1 of Legend of Korra yesterday. While she really annoyed me at first, I was surprised by the direction the season went. The only thing that really annoyed me was the evil cackling... The villain is kind of like the bad guy in Black Panther, where if he didn't have an evil laugh...

NGL, it would be pretty cool to see them land on Venus.

Kind of like when Japan said they were going to bomb the moon.

I was quite happy with this case, and it's surprisingly easy to work with. Both sides come off with hand-screws only.

The only thing I don't like is the bay for the power supply... Now that was a pain to put in.

I quit playing a while back when they changed it from "grind when you want as you do the parts you enjoy," to "you have to grind on a regular basis doing randomly assigned activities." Every now and then I think about going back to it to see what's new, but... Nah. It's too much ...

Noice

Did I post about my HTPC rebuild a few months back?
Ryzen 3500X processor, Radeon 5700XT 8GB card, 32GB of RAM
Same storage as the old PC though. One of these days I'll get around to doing a proper fault-tolerant NAS.

One of the podcasts I listen to mentioned that the amount of bacteria needed is an order of magnitude smaller than what's present in Earth's atmosphere at that height.

I don't have their link, but it's heartening news.

I found out that Cameraman Jenn had never read Where the Red Fern Grows, so I bought her a copy. We'll see what she thinks.
